Kayshon Boutte: "How The Hell Did I Get Here???"

Maye does throw some pretty sprials.

Boutte is an anchor player. Made two remarkable catches that helped us win. As clutch as any WR we've had. He needs to be signed to a long term contract. Maye needs him.
Diggs-Boutte-Hollins-Henry should anchor the receiving corps as they did this year when all were healthy. Along with Stevenson, they should get the vast majority of the reps, with Williams hopefully developing and getting more than this year.

Of course, we COULD sign a top WR as an upgrade to Douglas/Chism

Same video as above but in a vertical crop. Amazing play, and video work.

OMG, the snow background, spinning ball in focus the whole way, then Butte head look at end.
Great clip. I assume likely an impossible to create-film clip without modern computerized camera-control technology. [whatever that technology may be.] Awesome. Thx

I think it's a stretch to act like he's irreplicable or must be retained at all costs, but they should absolutely be looking to keep him considering where they're at cap wise and how they don't have another obvious starting caliber receiver right now besides Diggs who isn't a long term option with his age.

I want to see him stay, but it takes both sides to make a deal. I'm guessing it's going to take at least the $12M/yr Marcus Jones got, and quite possibly more.

Showing up Big in these Playoffs Games; Kayshon Boutte just priced himself out of a possible Home town discount. He ain't coming cheap now also he's still very young.

If they offer him a fair market deal he will sign here. Boutte clearly loves playing for Vrabel and with Maye and this team. However a fair market deal in this case means paying him above his stat line, because he's a much better receiver than his numbers indicate, and the Patriots know this. 4 years 60 million should get it done. The bottom line is that he's a much better receiver than guys getting paid more than this, Calvin Ridley e.g... and he would be getting the ball more in other offenses. I think the Patriots understand this and will get it done.

Boutte's development is a real tribute to Vrabel's ability to manage a football team. A lot of Vrabel's schtick looks like macho ******** to me, frankly, with a hint of mawkish Oprahism, but there's no denying it works.

As for paying Boutte. I guess I'd call him a a solid NFL wide receiver, and I'd offer compensation commensurate with that standing. I would not overpay. It seems to me that snatching at shiny objects and overpaying for them is the kryptonite for any NFL team, a millstone around the team's neck going forward. It is most foolish, of course, when you overpay for a "proven" talent (players generally who over the time they have "proven themselves" have inevitably gotten older, often more worn down, closer to their decline), and Boutte is a younger player, which argues for a little more compensation, but nothing disproportionate to his actual value.

I totally agree: I was hoping he would be a $10Mill a year cap friendly deal player knowing Gonzo and Maye are on the horizon. But again Boutte have Youth going for him he's also much better than regarded. Really good contested catch player for his size.

IF we had younger Competent players I would agree: but if I was his Agent. I would say: Diggs and Hollins both turn 33 next season and you will be 24: also most WR's fall off that cliff @ 34. So Diggs and Hollins are both on borrowed Time. I feel like Boutte's ceiling is Diggs they're so similar: Maye really likes Boutte they can grow together.

Knowing we will have Both Diggs and Barefoot Hollins in 2026: I'm all for Drafting WR Chris Bell at the bottom of the Second Round. We could let Chris Bell use the Year to heal and have him ready by TC 2027. I don't know If they can Guarantee Diggs after next season unless he plays lights out. We have the option of sitting an injured Rookie WR for a year. I can't see a Team pulling the trigger for Chris Bell in the First or at the Top of the Second Round.

Hunter Henry's over 30 too. Maye-->Boutte is looking like an important connection, a good trust and chemistry that can develop over time. Fortunately I don't think Boutte wants to leave. He's had enough ups and downs in his short career to appreciate that not all opportunities are created equal.

That's a reasonable rejoinder.

I think his age gives the Patriots a shot at a cheaper deal if they make it only 3 years. Something like 10, 13, 15 with basically the first two years guaranteed let him hit the market at age 27 with a few more years having proved it with Drake. Then he could REALLY cash in, or if he is as good as we think he will be the Patriots can resign him to a higher end deal.
