You can get Tonga right now for half of what you were paying frickin Godchaux for the next 4 years.

I hope Cowden's on top of this stuff, no reason to think he's not
Oh you mean one of the best DL in the league dogchaux.. talk about a rotten apple for a locker room.. .. of without a doubt.. I can see a situation where around the bye Vrabel, Cowden and Highsmith evaluate guys like KC and Tonga and see if an extension can be done.. Tonga says he loves it here so...

He also fulfills the 'all Championship teams need a Samoan' quota.

I wish people would think about this guy when they declare a player a bust.

So often we see players wash out but a big part of me thinks all they needed was a different system, a different leader - something.

Agree completely. Because there is no minor league in pro football players have to make a huge jump to NFL football when they enter the league, and the vast majority of players need time to develop and get up to speed to become good contributors to their teams. Unfortunately the vast majority of fans have absolutely no patience and start declaring them busts and want to get rid of them a month into their rookie season. We see a ton of that **** on this very board. Fortunately Vrabel has made it clear that developing players is what it's all about for their coaching staff, and as a player who started out on special teams and developed into a great all around player he knows exactly what he's talking about. There is a great interview with Vrabel, Rodney Harrison, and Dungy online that discusses this.

Big time! Chaisson, and Tonga as well I'd say are long term guys Tonga is a beast.
I strongly brlirvr that we should try to keep Tonga. The situation is a bit different than Chaisson because of his position, and because we have Farmer. If Tonga is too expensive, then Vrabel will find someone else. On the other hand, Chaisson and Jones need to be re-signed, even at a relatively high price.

In all actuality Tonga and KC are guys identified as being part of the culture and core going forward.. you need those types of guys... paying them should they want to remain here wich all indications say they both love playing for Vrabel.. then the $$$ isn't an issue with our current cap.

I'm getting sick of all the "why isn't Williams / Henderson / Chism playing more" posts.

So many fans think this is all about the hard-on they got during the draft and the pre-season.

They'll play more snaps when the coaches feel they're ready to play more snaps.

So far what I see is Williams isn't where Maye expects him to be on his routes. Henderson is not good at pass protection and Chism isn't making much of his opportunities in the return game.

The coaches see them in practice several times a week so they know a lot more than we do.

Let's try to be patient and see what happens week after week after the coaches get to work with these guys a lot more.

Agree completely. With Henderson his pass blocking technique is excellent, I think the problem is that he isn't used to the complexity of defensive schemes, and picking up where the pressure will come from. With Williams I think you nailed it, his route running isn't exact enough, and he needs to polish it. With Chism I think the problem is actually Maye. He's doing so Many things well that it's tough to criticize him, but I think the one area he doesn't have down yet is checking down and hitting guys close to the LOS. They focused heavily on it in camp but with real bullets flying Maye is choosing to either go downfield, usually successfully, or taking off running. In time I think he will master it, and that slot role will become more important to him.

Chiasson is also not jumping offsides either. Don't think those two events are unrelated...
