Clemson junior DE is in the draft. Reportedly runs in the low 4.7s at 6'5, 272 lbs. He's a projected 2nd round pick at the moment.

Those numbers remind me an awful lot of Willie McGinest. Assuming we don't take Gholston early, would he be worth considering with our second round pick...or hopefully the early third-rounder? I didn't see Clemson too much this year.

I think Merling played at 280 this season. He is a great talent. I wonder if he projects more to a Jarvis Green, maybe Justin Tuck type, who can slide between DE and DT in a 4-3. When I watched him I was more impressed with him than Harvey. Merling had good effort all the time, and was constantly doubled. Harvey is more of a sleek athlete and he definitely shows up when the lights are on. But teams run right at him when he's not interested.

I think Pony hit the nail on the head.

Sadly I watched the Auburn-Clemson bowl game and I can not even remember him being on the field and I think Auburn started 2 freshman OT's this year.
