Julian Edelman *foot*

I thought from reports at the end of the season surgery wasn't needed? Guess those were just smoke screens

Actually, Edelman answered some questions about it back at the end of February and didn't come off as anything close to sure. He stated that he had no idea as to whether or not surgery would be needed and how much, if any, he'd participate in offseason activities.

Mack Herron posted the quotes and link, and it set off a lot of speculation from there which continued all the way through this afternoon. Those Jones fractures, or any foot issues for that matter, aren't to be played with. Here's hoping that he has better luck with his feet from here on out!

I actually don't know what's weirder, the fact that very few bothered to check the OP's posting history (which suggested nothing at all about him making things up or "trolling"), the fact that people didn't take Edelman's rather recent comments and situation into account, or the fact that we all scared the poor poster and his information away. The poor dude hasn't even returned for a victory lap.

I don't think rushing an athlete back from a foot injury has ever ended well, so let's just hope the Pats don't do that. Give him all the time he needs and then some, and if that means missing the offseason, then that's fine. I'm okay with him playing himself into shape if need be, especially if that helps integrate Hogan and Bennett into the offense through a 2013-lite type trial by fire.

He clearly overstayed his welcome here ...

Great thread! lol! Thanks for all the laughs guys! :D

Do you happen to remember the specifics surrounding Edelman's last foot injury? I'm assuming that it was the other foot, of course.

IIRC, he needed a screw in that one too, didn't he, or am I just thinking of Dobson's situation instead? Forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly. They're all starting to blend together at this point, but I'm pretty sure Edelman has missed time due to a foot issue before.

I did what it looks like some others did, went back and gave him a positive rating on his original post, for all the crap that he went through when he was trying to be helpful and hoping it makes him stick around and not leave in disgust.

He had surgery on the right foot in 2012.

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm going to assume that this was not the foot that Edelman had injured in the past. Is that correct? I'm sure we'd have heard it plenty of times if it had been.
I am not positive on the details but from what I heard this was a "cleanup" procedure so I would assume that it is the same foot.

How many pages of denial were there in this thread?
The blind homers were chastising anyone who dare think that someone who partakes in contact sports may have an injury. We were called "doom and gloomers" for not stumbling around this thread drunk off silver and blue Kool-Aid.

Oh please.

This whole schtick of calling homers blind and dumb (at a fan site none-the-less) gets really really old. You guys attack at least as much as you get attacked. And pretending that you can summarily dismiss people's opinions because you have some precognitive insight into their motivations only makes you look like the kind of close-minded idiot you are accusing the other side of being.

As with any forum.. some people went a little overboard here.... but as Ian rightfully pointed out, there was plenty of reason to doubt the OP if for no other reason than the odds.

Trolls happen daily.

Stories being broken by a newish poster a full week ahead of the press catching on.. happens very, very, very, very rarely.

That all said.. the OP absolutely deserves to see some crow being eaten.

Ya so story is clear ********

@Christian enjoy your ban troll
One would think that you'd change your strategy of "shoot first, ask questions later" after defending AHern so vigorously as soon as his name was linked to his first murder. But here you are again dressed in full fanboy regalia refusing to believe anything that paints a Patriot in a negative light. I can't imagine living inside your silver and blue fog, unable to see the world accurately. You have a gift.

Seems safe bet, given that he reportedly injured both feet, albeit at different times.

It was 100 percent Edelman dude. 100 percent. Like I said, Amendola and he rolled in together with Vereen. They rolled up in a big black SUV blasting rap music and came in. They were escorted in with the owner and seated at a table with a bunch of chicks. My friend, who's a Giants fan...even shook hands with Edelman but called him Danny by mistake (thinking he was Amendola).

I'm done on this thread. Came on to give some info that clearly no one else seems to have or know....or just isn't reporting. I'm sure in time it will come out. If you want to believe me, great. If not, awesome. I don't really care. Just wanted to share it with fellow Patriots fans because I thought it would be appreciated.
I learned a long time ago to say "You were right and I was wrong," when it is the right thing to say.
In this case, it is the right thing to say.

I based my comments on two things, the first was that I have never seen one of these first hand reports that was actually true and the second was that in this day and age of social media any instance where a pro athlete is in public sporting an injury or a bottle of champagne is usually all over the place. Mack Herron cited a report that Edelman was hurting and I asked where he got the information and he cited Christians post, which I denounced as a troll for the reasons above. As it turned out he was telling the truth and I was wrong, so I apologized to him both publicly and by PM.

Like anything else if you make a mistake you own it, apologize, learn from it, and move on. Next time I will give more weight to the posters history and I will let others deal with the trolls who come in here instead of jumping on them myself.

That 14 season was remarkable. And Edelman staying upright and in games was a big part of that. He's clutch and we need him right to get back to the top.

I hope this'll be the last setback for a few years. Though I fear his intense style might lead to more injuries as he hits 30...
The way he was playing in 2015 up until his injury was mind blowing, better than 2014. Dude probably could have had 120+ catches and upwards of 13-15 TD's when it was all said and done.

This thread was pretty funny to read from start to finish. I never thought the guy was a troll or purposefully lying. I do feel like some of the more aggressive reactions were due to anything that might be construed as a negative for the Pats, maybe even an indication that playing him in January wasn't the right decision. That doesn't appear to be the case.

Clearly you have a successful marriage :)

If any of the padwans out there who aspire to be married for a long time, that is rule #1.
