Judon apparently doesn't think he's going to get paid.

Was a good player … leave it at that. Need money for the next bunch of star players that we going to convince to come to the pats…

Without a doubt the team will be better with Judon.. I want him back for his capability on the field and as a leader to set a good example for the young guys. I don't want him on the team if he is going to be a distraction. Best case scenario Judon plays under the current contract with the intent of earning another contract. The Pats have cap flexibility, term is more important than short term price if the team wants to adjust Judon's current contract. Seems like there should be a way to make this work.
I know judon said he wasn't going to hold in or be a distraction. I believe he's a classy guy and all about the team. He's been excellent as a patriots player on and off the field.

I'd absolutely love him to stick around. I don't think he will be traded. If anything wolf will give him another bump for this season or more guaranteed money. Look for the team to target OLB, pass rushers in next years draft.

32 years old before the season starts
missed last year entirely due to injury
is under contract for this season.
redid his deal last season to forward him more money.

he needs to go out and play his way to another deal in free agency.
holding in, or holding out, will not get hm another deal. the teams D was very good last season with out him. the team resigned Tavai, Jennings and Uche. the team believes they have a stud in White.

best case scenario they can find a taker offering a #2. doubtful, but who knows.
If uche didn't fall off a cliff when Judon went down last season the team would have all the leverage.. however even at 32.. Judon has alot for leverage.. outside of Jennings at the LB level our pressure will come from the D line.. but I agree d was excellent last season.. I'd love to have Judon stick around.. but he has to be reasonable as well.

he is under contract
he did get money earlier last season (I don't believe he got more money, but got it sooner)
I would love to see him back this season on a mission, which is a new contract. go out and put up 15+ sacks and hold your edge.
if so, he will surely get another contract, perhaps not here, but he will get another

for me, Uche is a specialist. he is a part time player that his job is to get to the QB. go put up 10+ sacks this season and teams will pay him.

Yes I remember. He got a "bump" . I believe we all love him and he's an elite player. Yes he would have had another all pro level season hadn't he gotten hurt.. he did have 4 sacks in 4 games. I hope something can get done with him..

“He’s under contract” in the last year of a deal he signed years ago is the most toothless threat imaginable. Most contracts add an additional year to protract and spread cap out to make it manageable.

“He’s under contract” isn’t a gun to a player’s child’s head forcing him to play. Players are only concerned about their current contract and insurance going forward. What I made two years ago isn’t playing my bills now.

Just about every player and their agent begins negotiations with a year left on their deal, it’s how NFL contracts work.

They are not extending him IMO. They would have already of they wanted to. Probably a large chasm between what they value him at and what he wants. It happens all the time. Doesn’t mean anyone is wrong, just means it isn’t a long term fit
This isn’t accurate, his deal will involve the largest numbers of anyone left they might extend or sign. His deal will be contingent on what they have left in space and going forward. His deal will likely be done last.

he redid his deal 12 months ago. he got more money last year. he then went out and missed the season due to injury, for the most part. I applauded the Onwenu deal once we saw official numbers. I was lukewarm on the Dugger deal once we saw official numbers.
I applauded the Stevenson deal when we saw the numbers. I will wait on commenting about the Tavai deal until we see the numbers.
I don't have to wait on a Judon deal. re doing his deal for anything more than non guaranteed money next year is foolish

Pay the man. He came to the Patriots believing he was coming to a competitive franchise, and played his ass, and led by example despite the losing seasons. He’s exactly the kind of guy you want in that locker room teaching young players how to play their asses off on every down.

He's arguably been the best player on the team since he came here. Pay him.

Reworking his current deal to move money up into 2023 without adding any new cash is not a big raise… it’s simply reworking his deal so his salary resembles other top defenders in the league at his position.

He outplayed his contract. They did the same for Gilmore because he reworked his deal two times prior and his salary his last season here was not commensurate with his level of play.

Like I said already, players don’t care about money they already earned. They’re going out there and putting their bodies on the line, they want their salary that season guaranteed at least and commensurate with their typical salary.

After averaging 14 million per season in salary the last three years, you saying he should shut his mouth and be happy playing for 7.5 million with no safety net is a terrible take and not realistic.

You’re the guy that wanted to pay Julio Jones when he was 32 years old and was already complete toast, but now you don’t want to pay Judon his average salary when he showed zero signs of slowing down last season? Makes sense….

Let this sink in. Godsmack’s contract is just shy per year of Judon, yet Godsmack’s is making more guaranteed. Jonathon Jones has more guaranteed. Kyle Dugger makes more per year than Judon. Schuster’s contract believe it or not, has more guaranteed by a hair.

This is bad business and this shouldn’t be debated giving Judon a new 2-3 year deal. Trade him now if you’re going to play games like this.

If he doesn’t get paid, that’s a big problem and is a bad message to be sending to the team. Way too many guys undeserving are getting new deals. Owenu specifically, is way overpaid.
The other problem is the lack of discipline and respect for the NE HC by going public with money complaints.

First Godaux and now Judon (who is supposed to lead by example.) Well, he is, now other NE players just need to go to social media with their issues with money.

Anyone with common sense who watch/listened to the interview on Greg hill knew mayo was jokingly saying burn cash.. I get it.. he's the HC so he's not allowed to have a little fun with media it's all military style no fun, don't crack a smile, don't dare give away the play calls and game plans... BS... this is a new regime..

Mayo jokingly said that.. yeah he walked it back some.. but the team has definitely self invested and "burned " cash! I don't see where the problem is.. IMO I don't think the players are disrespectful to him at all.. these are Mayo's guys.. he coached these guys.. judon and peppers if any are the main 2 guys deserving of and extension. I don't see a peep from peppers..

I believe the team likely has already offered judon something.. however he's either mulling over it or just flat out taking his agents advice and playing leverage games with the team.. I'll say this.. if judon doesn't report to camp.. then we know what's up

That he is.. he played extremely well with judon.. but soon as judon went down.. he fell off...

We are a garbage team going nowhere anytime soon. I would’ve traded him much sooner. He is 32 I think, what’s the point of him being on the roster?

I agree! We got talent issues everywhere. What is the best draft pick we can get from Detroit for Judon? A 6th or 7th round pick???
