Judon apparently doesn't think he's going to get paid.

I'm pretty sure we had this same commentary with Onwenu, Dugger, Stevenson, Bourne and Andrews already over the last few months.

The only one that came to fruition was Trent Brown, who was one of the few cases in which we were all in agreement to let him walk.

If the Patriots re-sign Judon - great.

If the Patriots don't re-sign Judon - let him play to a performance in 2024 that will showcase his abilities for all to see, and hope he does so well that he earns a big fat last contract somewhere.

He's turning 32 in a few weeks. If he walks in 2025 it's not the end of the world.

I'd like to keep him but he's at the age where teams don't like to give out long contracts and I don't know what he's looking for.

If he doesn’t get paid, that’s a big problem and is a bad message to be sending to the team. Way too many guys undeserving are getting new deals. Owenu specifically, is way overpaid.

At a minimum all the contracts sets expectations for other players. Wolf is a complete imbecile if he didn't realize that there would be fallout from retaining the players he signed. He continues to extend players after the initial blowback so he must have a plan for dealing with these situations. A trade would not surprise me. It would send a strong message to the team that they are expected to honor the contracts they just signed. How did Green Bay handle holdouts?

Absolutely agree here. Judons energy, his attitude and Definitely his play making abilities.. I'd absolutely love to have him! But if it doesn't work out we still have a dam good defensive unit.

Judon got a bump last season, Onwenu has his value set by the market for players at his position... I'd absolutely love for Judon to get paid what he feels he's worth. Every player values themselves differently.. remember Judon singed a nice deal to come here in 2021 and he had never had the product in Baltimore he'd had here.. so it's not like he hasn't gotten a big pay day before! I don't think he's eating out any soup kitchens and needs SNAP to feed his family..

I think wolf has been doing an excellent job so far. You right players are watching and players are asking where's mines? Unfortunately every player's not valued the same.. Judon absolutely deserves a raise and is a high character guy! However he got a bump last season and signed a massive FA deal with us in 2021.. he never had the production in Baltimore thats he's has here past few seasons. I believe that's why he wants more money. If he's traded I wouldn't be suprised either.. also Judon has said he isn't going to hold out. Before anyone else other than Judon gets extended peppers is the guy who deserves one.

Green Bay usually ignored holdouts. Back to Judon, he is currently 27th in average salary per season. Since he's singed in NE, he's had the 5th most sacks on a per game average and made the Pro Bowl two years in a row. It could've been higher had he played the entire season in 2023. He is criminally underpaid. It's not going to cripple the cap paying him 2 more years as a thank you for your service at a reasonable salary. Meanwhile, they pay Owenu top 3 in salary per year and top 5 in guarantees with no All Pro/Pro Bowl's to his name. He's ranked the 26th best T by PFF one notch above our old friend Trent Brown. Yikes! Ditto with Barmore. He's making $21M per season now after only having one good year with no All Pro/Pro Bowl's to his name. Of course these types of moves will piss off a guy like Judon. A trade could happen as you mentioned.

I don't see the bump for Judon. Maybe you can help me out with that. He signed a pretty below market deal in 2021. He's badly outplayed his contract.

Von Miller. Same age as Judon when missed a season, came back had a good age 32 season, signed big contract and downhill since.
Pass Rushers are a mixed bag, the majority seem to be done around age 34 but some of the greatest can go a few years past. It's a risk, if he plays the year out, he'll have a lot to prove and likely play lights out.
Without knowing what he wants for years and pay tough to say but risk is high past this year that he will fall off.

They are not extending him IMO. They would have already of they wanted to. Probably a large chasm between what they value him at and what he wants. It happens all the time. Doesn’t mean anyone is wrong, just means it isn’t a long term fit

Guessing he wants to be paid as a “marquee player” but they have concerns over the fact he got hurt or runs out of gas late in the season.

Don’t actually know if they’ve even tried to extend him or made an offer at all. They may be saying “look Matt, we love you, but you can’t bend us over a barrel for some cash every single season. Bill did you a solid last year. Get on the field this year and let’s see how you do, if it’s all good then we can talk money again after the season.”

If he plays hardball for too long they could move him pretty easily, and possibly for decent value. They played most of last year without him and were still effective up front - and perhaps White takes a step forward. So he’s not absolutely critical and he’s getting older, you can’t go wild paying huge money to older guys - at least not in the Wolf regime.

Without a doubt the team will be better with Judon.. I want him back for his capability on the field and as a leader to set a good example for the young guys. I don't want him on the team if he is going to be a distraction. Best case scenario Judon plays under the current contract with the intent of earning another contract. The Pats have cap flexibility, term is more important than short term price if the team wants to adjust Judon's current contract. Seems like there should be a way to make this work.

32 years old before the season starts
missed last year entirely due to injury
is under contract for this season.
redid his deal last season to forward him more money.

he needs to go out and play his way to another deal in free agency.
holding in, or holding out, will not get hm another deal. the teams D was very good last season with out him. the team resigned Tavai, Jennings and Uche. the team believes they have a stud in White.

best case scenario they can find a taker offering a #2. doubtful, but who knows.

Sorry. Love Judon but he got $ last year and got hurt. His age doesn't help his case.

I'd offer him more $ but only if it's tied to incentives.

Typo. He meant, "Ian think that's about to happen."
Who is Ian? Ian Logue?

I think it’s sarcasm or a speech-to-text error that he didn’t correct: “I don’t” -> “Ion”
