Patriots Player Departure Josh Uche traded to Chiefs for 2026 6th

If Uche carries his current playing level to the Chiefs, he may actually do damage to their Super Bowl hopes. A 6th is marginally better than a bag of footballs, but not by much.

It's just that interacting with the Chiefs in any way other than throwing beverages on one of their various felons is pretty...unpalatable.

because he is not part of the future, so why not get a 6th over nothing when he leaves in the midseason. Seems like a no brainer
He’s only 26 and has 20 sacks. Only Wise has more career sacks.

Belichick agrees with you, BTW. He said that we would have gotten a 6th round comp pick in 2026 anyway…

That’s only if they sign fewer FAs than they lose in 2025. A bird in the hand . . .

That's BS. Belichick is blowing smoke. This team will be major buyers in FA. They'll be adding far too many high value contracts to qualify for any comp picks

It’s a pick. 6th rounder? Ya never know.

He got 10 in 5 games.
Agree. It’s like saying Stevenson got 100 yards rushing but one of them was for 50…so it doesn’t count.

It is what it is… and Jennings had a big day yesterday. I’d rather coach up his pass rush skills or lack thereof and have him out there in early downs….
I saw an article on The Athletic where Jeff Howe gives the Chiefs an “A” and the Pats a “C” for their grades on the Uche trade. Bottom line to me is the Chiefs made a “no risk” trade. A 6th round pick for them is equal to an early 7th rounder to us and if Uche plays like he did in 2022 with a better defense around him then they’ll deserve an “A” for getting a guy whose playing like the 2nd rounder he was. If he was 30 I couldn’t care less but he’s 26 and has shown that he can get after the QB and these guys carry VALUE at that age. Whether we get a “ playa” or not with that pick, at this moment it has less value than most players on the current roster (excluding Thornton of course)….

He said he's a good rusher, but can't be used because they're always behind.
Which would explain why he's never on the field I guess.
I would say a good pass rusher based on his lack of ways to beat the OL. He tries to dip under by dropping his shoulder and he tries a speed to power bull rush. Honestly they are both ****, I think this is addition by subtraction.

As a pass rush specialist, I would expect more than one season over 5 sacks. He has a season with 12 I think and 3 is his next highest season. He is a one trick pony and his one trick is not very good.

Spagnola will find a way to utilize him and make it work. He is the type of guy the existing Chiefs front was missing and great addition to a good defense around him.

A team on their way to a fairly likely 3 peat just got better courtesy of the Pats. Awesome.

I’ve seen others post that too, but why? They’re 7-0. Yeah, they’re flawed, but who’s going to knock them off? The Bills are as inconsistent as ever. The Ravens have a history of blowing it in the playoffs, and have allowed more points than the Pats thus far this season. The Texans? Diggs might be done for the year. The 9ers have major injury issues. The Lions? Awesome story, but would anyone bet money on Goff over Mahomes in the Super Bowl?

I’m not seeing it yet, as much as I’d like to see it.
Betcha other fans were saying similar things about the undefeated 2019 NE Patriots.

well...****...

watch this guy blow up offenses now

That 6th rd pick can't help us now, can't help us next year, and even when we finally do use it chances are he might not even be able to be a back up for half a season. So I'd take whatever Uche offers for the next few weeks.

FWIW I would take someone like Dial in 2026 over a few more weeks of Uche. But that player is probably still more likely to be camp fodder. Then there is always the Brady like lottery ticket that you never know what could happen.

It doesn't matter how he played here recently , he will automatically make their defense better . This move really makes no sense , another head scratcher by Wolf !!! How can they automatically trade someone to KC that could potentially make them better than they already are ?

Uche isn’t as good a fit anymore without Judon, he’s also not good vs run. He was gone after this year. Understand the trade but I would have kept him anyway shrug…

Superbowl!

You are right I would much rather have Uche not properly setting the edge and allowing QBs to run all over the filed. Uche is and has always been crap. I have been very hopeful for him, but it was time.
