Compensation isn’t much obviously but some of yall are acting like Uche was make or break for the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl.
why do they need more help on defense

A 6th round is a throwaway. This team is dog dookie. The fewer leftovers from this stint the better

Brinks truck? Uche? He’s closer to a vet minimum guy.
And we gave him a one year incentive laden deal worth upwards to 8M after he rebuffed bigger offers in UFA….(shrugs)

The bitterness is on display on both sides...I do think this is his payback for Krafts being less than diplomatic since the breakup.

That said, hes not wrong... I don't really see the point in moving on from him for that return.
Why do anything to help the chiefs and I mean anything

Maybe the days of getting 12 1/2 sacks were over with us because last year Judon got hurt and this year we traded him. A player picked in the 2nd round strikes me as someone who should be capable due to his own abilities and not benefit *that* much from another player. But KC knows that and its why they gave up a 6 th rounder for a relatively young 2nd rounder. They also know their front 7 will “protecf” him more and wouldn’t be surprised if he gets close to 10 sacks the rest of the year. WE should have held out for more - I would have tied Thornton to him and insisted on a 4th rounder for both of them and kept Uche the rest if the year if they wouldn’t anti up. “Bidness is bidness” and giving away young players with “some” potential is “bad bidness”….
Belichick agrees with you, BTW. He said that we would have gotten a 6th round comp pick in 2026 anyway…

It is what it is… and Jennings had a big day yesterday. I’d rather coach up his pass rush skills or lack thereof and have him out there in early downs….

That’s not true

like we needed any more evidence the front office has no idea what it's doing
But Belichick had too much power

a sixth?

congrats chiefs for bending over this franchise

Josh Uche can't get on the field with the Patriots. What do you think he's worth?

We’re helping the Chiefs win another Super Bowl for a 2026 6th rounder…

Nice!
If Uche is what puts them over the top then he is much better than we thought. I am positive that if the win the SB its not because of Uche. He may have nice plays over the season but he isn't the missing piece. I think that Spags will make him look decent though.

Think I saw with the roll over they have something like 147 million in cap space this offseason. Could be more with some cuts etc.
Doesn’t the CBA require them to use most of the cap within a year or two?

The CBA requires cash spending to be 90% of the cap from 2024-2026. Despite their high cap room, the Pats have spent plenty of cash. As of a few weeks ago, Miguel had them at 108% for 2024.

I gotta disagree with BB on this one. Why would an Uche deal in free agency net the Patriots much of anything? He only signed for $3 million for this season and his career arc is moving in the wrong direction.

Plus, with the $500 billion in cap space we're sitting on, with most "key" guys signed, we stand to sign far more free agents in 2035 than we lose. That will offset and potential comp pick.

Uche for a 6th is perfectly fine.

Is this BB saying that was my pick and it was good.
He said he's a good rusher, but can't be used because they're always behind.
Which would explain why he's never on the field I guess.

Why do anything to help the chiefs and I mean anything
Because the Patriots should do what is best for the Patriots. We aren't competing with the Chiefs this year. Not doing this is making a worse move for the Pats to help everyone else who might play the Chiefs.

Uche was either getting traded or walking for nothing. If the Chiefs gave us the best offer for a guy who hasn't done much, then it was the better move.

Uche has been here for 5 years and 2022 was the only year he was demonstrably better than he's been this year. So I don't really get what Bill is talking about. The one year they made the playoffs and played with leads most of the time he wasn't getting more sacks. He only plays well when offenses have to worry about one or two other rushers as a priority and he is an afterthought.
