Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

Just dandy.

Pro Football Talk - Patriots Take Another Hit To The Secondary

The team placed Barrett on injured reserve Wednesday. He was one of the players the team has tried opposite Patrick Chung at safety. It seemed like Barrett was the team’s favorite option in that spot.

The Patriots also signed LB Niko Koutouvides to the 53-man roster and promoted defensive back Sterling Moore to the active roster.

We should all be thrilled to see sergio brown play more.

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

This is shocking news...

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

Barrett Stinks. Brown, Ihedigbo and Chung left at Safety. Opposing QB's can complete passes at will with that trio. Maybe try Moore, Molden or Adams there. Available FA's aren't much better.

So they are not even considering the likes of Sharper, Williams, Geno (knows our system) . BB likes Diggy et al better I guess

Did I see Lawyer Milloy there on the list

Hey, Vernon Gholston is still available... sign the beast ...

Sharper, Milloy and Wilson have better name recognition and if they are a fraction of what they used to be would be better than what we have, however age and health catch up with everyone. I honestly don't know how we'll compete with these safeties. I think we can get by with the DL, LB and Corners we have but the safeties will be the Achilles Heel.

Awesome that BB let go of Merriwether and Sanders for ZILCH, NADA, ZERO.

Brilliant.

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

Wasn't Barrett a JAG, who was often the subject of vitriol in this forum???

Now there are those who lament his loss...

Meriweather was almost run out of town on this forum, both this year and last year, cointinually ragged on about how poorly he was playing bad angles was a recurring theme, complete with stupid penalties.. in June he was convicted of first degree murder by the posters here.. now he is benched in Chicago.

Sanders was not doing all that much here, now he is in Atlanta and not doing much there either...

Bodden is looking for work..

Hindsight is always 20-20...

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

Losing Barrett to IR is the equivalent of losing one of our cheerleaders to a broken leg

It makes absolutely no difference on winning or losing......well maybe losing because he can't cover a thing

I agree with all these notions but why release them when you don't have any back up players who can step up. Not contributing on other teams does not translate to we cannot use them in our system.

With sanders and Merriweather I don't think our D would be dead last in the league, atleast it was not last year, but hey what do I know

He is still depth...a couple of more injuries to the secondary and we're royally ****ed. I can't imagine any guy from the practice squad or FA can be any better.

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

Awesome........ Looks like I can dust off my Koutouvides jersey again.

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

this sunday should be fun

Just expect to see Sanchez light up our defense like Dan Marino and hope that Brady starts to look like Montana again...and just in case, keep 2 six packs of beer next to the remote. It will make the loss less painful if it happens.:eat2:

I don't think anyone is crying about his loss, it's about what we're left with. This was once considered a position of strength. Now we're stuck with an average safety who doesn't make enough plays and other safeties who should never be starting but are forced to.

Re: Barrett to IR: Niko re-signed

the Barrett .50 Cal is a DEVASTATING weapon.

Josh Barrett of the Patriots is not a weapon. He is a liability.:bricks::bricks::bricks:

Nobody wanted to cough up a pick for them.
