Dawson Knox, a guy who can't block and is the equivalent of Greg Baty, signs for $54m for 4 yrs, or $12m per.
Bills, TE Knox reach 4-year, $53.6M extension
This puts Henry and Smith's contract into contect
Yup….based upon one year of production (he was a non-factor in his first two years, with opposing defenses preoccupied by Allen’s running potential and Diggs, plus a mix of Beasley, Sanders and an ascending Davis.
Really, the contract is based upon his YAC abilities and 9 TDs. He has a lot of physical gifts and clearly looks to be an ascending player and they are almost certainly paying him for (anticipated) future production. The athleticism and big play abilities are very similar to Smith’s (who had 9 touchdowns during his last year in Tennessee), actually, before Smith’s big UFA deal with the Pats.
Plus, because he wasn't eligible for free agency the Bill's are probably getting a “discount”, compared to what he could've received it if he were an UFA like Smith. This should be a lesson for the posters here try to pretend that it is quite easy to find a legitimate TE1 in the draft/FA/trade market. It isn’t. At all.
