Jonathan Cooper released

They wouldn't release him if they wanted him on the team.

Sometimes you have to cut players you want to keep. Not saying that's what happened here, just that it could be.

IF he came back (and I'm not saying, or even guessing, that he will), it would almost certainly be on a minimum type of salary.
Gotta pay someone, functionally the same whether it's him or someone else.

He's not just a throw in considering the cap hit he eats up.

The cap amount was small compared to someone like Chad Johnson or even Hightower..

Really? it's a matter of who can contribute.. They needed the roster space because of the shortage at DT with Valentine being hurt.

As for Perillo's comments, Cooper could play every interior position so the idea that he didn't have positional flexibility is BS.

2.3 million in dead money, ZERO cap savings from cutting him

meanwhile, chandler jones is making plays.

thuney better turn out to be a pro bowl type of player..

The perfect twist of this saga would be if they bring him back on a new deal that goes beyond 2016 ..

.......and Thuney, and Mitchell, who will still be here next season, and Jones almost certainly wouldn't have.

He would have easily netted the Pat's a 3rd round comp pick, plus another year of his impact plays while Brady is still the QB. It was a awful trade, now that Cooper was cut, the cap savings (between what they would have had to pay Chandler, and the dead money if Cooper) is less than 5 million, it becomes a God awful trade.

Chad Johnson - 6.5M Cap Hit.
Donte Hightower - 7.75M Cap Hit.

You didn't negate anything I said. 2.3M is SMALL in comparison..

Relax, I was just putting out the actual numbers.

Where does the dead money come from. His contract ends at the end of the year.

Right now, his 2.3 million still counts against the Pat's cap. So basically they cut a guy and received ZERO cap relief for cutting him, which of course means the cut was performance related and not financially related.
