Joe Montana: Niners should've taken Mac Jones

Yeah his examples are some backups who did nothing. Meanwhile this decade was filled with starters well past age35.

.
Yep so was they in the 80's and 90's. Most hall of fame QB's played past 35.

Brett Farve, Dan Marino... anyone remember how hobbled they were at 40 years old? How many surgeries they went through... it's either millennial take or a Brady is magic take, not sure which?
Brady has had 7 surgeries, maybe he is just in better shape. I named off all of Brady's injuries, seems pretty extensive.

Like the guy who sat and watched the Seattle sideline panic in the Super Bowl without calling a timeout... luck I guess
Ah so you are moving goal posts now. This was about Mac being drafted, keep up.

You named 1 player, if it affected all players, then why are there not a ton more? There are players from the 60's that played into their late 40's at QB.
Because there's only 32 jobs available, because most players were never that good to begin with, because we're only now reaching unexplored areas of how long QB's will last... the future is ahead of us not behind.

These new rules to protect players only went into place in this last decade, the movie Concussion only came out in 2015. You understand how time works right... I mean not the physics, but just looking at a calendar?

If one looked at QBs *who played well* past age 38, it's probably all guys with seasons post-2005.

.

After 8 games of NFL tape many here are *still* unsure whether Mac will succeed.
Well yeah probably because frankly we dont know. He has looked good to this point, but that does not really mean much yet. You have to look good for a long time, take steps forward, etc etc. Nobody is assured of what they will be 10 years from now even the QB's that have struggled.

Again, if its the rules why is there no other QB that was drafted around the time Brady was that is still playing. Do you know how many QB's outlasted that was drafted after him? If there is a hard set rule that says QB's play longer then show it. They are not playing longer now than ever before, except brady. Not sure why this is so hard to say.

In hindsight I would have traded the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 draft for Brady.
Yeah I mean brady should have went in the first round obviously Bill should have known with his genius.

If Mac wasn't there he would have moved on.

This is about diminishing Bill's good draft picks and showing us Brady possesses magic powers... I get it entirely.

He took the best player available at a position of value... just like Mac.

Did he tell you that?

If Bill knew what Brady would have been he would have waited till the 6th round? ok....**** Rehbin is why Brady was a patriot

Yeah, you'd give up an arm and a leg to get the GOAT. But I don't know how many super bowls we would have won without those drafts, certainly less than 7.

Brees, I gave you an example. You want to know why there aren't a hundred examples. I told you that also, it's an exclusive club, there are only 32 jobs and fewer players than that are great players who last.

Moreover both Brees and Brady played on the cusp of these new rules and unlike Brady Brees played on some dogs early in his career and had some bad injuries. If you think Brady played longer because of pliability you're smoking too much of that TB12 weed.

Probably same amount. Most of the main stars in superbowls. Ty Law, Bruschi, etc were already on team.

Why the vitriol towards BB?

If Bill knew what Brady would have been he would have waited till the 6th round? ok....**** Rehbin is why Brady was a patriot
Yeah... the QB coach that BB hired and told to go scout Tom and Tim Rattay out of the entire 2000 draft class is why Tom is a Patriot.

But you don't have an axe to grind with Bill... got it.
