Joe Milton at WR?

I'm not disagreeing with you, however, if we're all being honest, Brissett was brought in as a QB Mentor and as the QB to take a pounding until we get a solid OL, so we don't get our hopefully Franchise QB killed as a rookie.
Many on this board are too young to remember that is exactly what happened to Jim Plunkett, thrown into the fire as a rookie in 71 with a dreadful offensive line ( pre John Hannah and Leon Gray). He got killed and was finally traded to SF for a haul of draft picks and won 2 Super Bowls in Oakland. He got sacked more than 10% of all his dropbacks.

Maye showing up alone should beat out Biscuit I am not against Starting the Rookie if he gets it. Similar to what we did with the Rookie Mac.

I became a Patriots Fan when Plunkett was drafted. It's my first recollection of the team. And there are other QB's who were true Franchise QB's who were ruined (David Carr, Andrew Luck), even Matthew Stafford was almost done in by the Lions until he was traded. Maye is more than young enough in age and demonstrated talent to be a Franchise QB. There's no need to rush him.

I agree with you my friend. However I think the O line will be ok.. we still traumatized as fans by what we had to watch last 2 seasons with the entire offense. Strange, Andrews and ownenu are the starting players we just have to solidify 2 spots really LT and RG. The downside to Brissett being the punching bag is of Zapp has to play beucase he will be on the practice squad.
Yep. Or, perhaps Rourke does show himself to be a better QB than Zappe (which granted, isn't hard to do).

Year one he’s Taysom Hill, third and short on your own side of the field? Plug him in, and see maybe he develops, he’s already 24. Does have skills size and a rocket arm. But a reason he was drafted so late

He said he wasn’t open to a position change.
I’m curious if he doesn’t change his mind as time goes on.

That is right Nathan Rourke. Unless he shows something. I'd say the guy with the advantage Brissett as he played for AVP in Cleveland so as everyone is coming in a ground 0 he has the advantage.

Right now, Jacoby Brissett is the best QB on this roster. Maye is an exciting prospect but he was literally just drafted. This is even more true for Milton.

Best in terms of what?

He was only signed to be a placeholder for Maye and to take a beating while the line sorts itself out.

Yup, and he lasted roughly a game and a half.

He could take a lesson from Edelman. There was nothing JE wouldn't do to get on the field. Return man, safety, WR, whatever you need, coach. We all know how that turned out. Obviously no one thinks much of Milton as a QB given his draft position.

He has Cam Newton size, has the best arm in the draft. I'm fine with him staying at QB. Switched schools in college, worth a shot give him a year or two to develop. Then trade Maye for a 2029 6th round pick

He'll give QB a go, why not, he's not the worst prospect. His final college season reminds me of Brissett a little, he wasn't overly explosive but he protected the ball.

If he can't play QB, he can put a little muscle on and play TE, he's not a WR. But QB's have nine lives, he could bounce around as a backup for a decade or more... it's a great job, ask Brian Hoyer.

Based on his highlights he looks like a stud better than zappe. So he can definitely be a backup for a long time and make an average of 6- 8 million a year for over 10-15 years. If he can suddenly have a meteoric rise like daniels who knows he could be our brock purdy.

I am sure maye is feeling the heat a bit

If Milton is going to play 3 years in NFL it will be as a QB. Let's be clear about Edelman, he made the roster as a top punt returner, NOT as a developmental anything.
===============================
As with any 6th or 7th rounder, if Milton doesn't make the team at his position he will be cut, just like the other 90% drafted in the 6th or 7th who don't make a roster. He'll be picked up by someone to be a #3 or he'll be signed to someone's Practice Squad.

Let's be clear. He night beat out Rourke. Personally, I don't expect that to happen. We might get a 6th or 7th for Rourke or Milton in the week before the last pre-season game.

For me, I think that the most likely result will be Milton on out Practice Squad, where he will one of the 3 students in our QB university.
=======
As an ASIDE, I'm fine with the pick. I like the idea of replacing Zappe as the one competing with Rourke for the #3 QB spot (and hopefully #2 in 2025).

I’m pulling for Milton.

He is too intriguing to make it to the Pats’ practice squad.

Yeah, I said Milton would be a QB. Edelman was brought in to be a WR... even if they didn't say it, they wanted a football player and he had ridiculous talent.

Milton's last season reminds me of bigger more athletic Brissett, which is saying something because Brissett is a pretty big and good athlete. Brissett is also a great teacher for both of these guys, he is of similar size and knows the job... and both of the kids need to learn it.

Milton has ridiculous potential, the Patriots just got the two best QB's in this year's draft class based on pure size and athleticism... that's not debatable. The rest of those guys including the first overall pick are shrimps compared to Maye and Milton.

Rourke wasn't that good or accurate in Canada, he isn't that good here... I like maple syrup as much as the next guy, but I don't understand the Rourke hype train. I don't know Rourke can surpass Zappe... never mind the two uber athletic giant children. Zappe probably needs a fresh start elsewhere.

This is my point. Would Squirrel have made the roster if he refused to play any other position besides QB? I for one hope he can show some versatility. Regardless of if Maye sucks or not, they're going to stick with him for 3 years given the draft capital he cost. Milton will never see the light of day in that time.
