Patriots Player Departure Jimmy Garoppolo traded to SF for 2018 2nd round draft pick

Newsflash, goofball: Brady has to prove himself every day. He will be the first to agree with that.
So, one bad day means he loses his job?

Are you seriously telling me that Bill Belichick needed more proof of Tom Bradys ability before trading the backup?

I don't believe for a minute that Cleveland offered a first round #12 for JAG.
Just like with Cassell & Mallet, Pats fans way, WAY over estimated what other GMs would offer for a less than 2 game phenom.

Wishing James Anthony Garapollo a great year in SF and a fine career.
Like with Bisquick, I'll be following JAG.

And that's all it was. Talk.

Well, it was talk because Belichick shut-down any trade discussion with the mistaken belief he could get Jimmy to stay with a bridge deal. that didn't happen...traded Jacoby.......then Belichick realized that Jimmy wasn't going to sign a bridge deal and traded Jimmy for less than what he could have gotten in the offseason.

You saw what teams were willing to do to draft even the most shady QBs at the top of the draft in April.

I firmly believe a first round pick was doable, lots of insiders believe that as well. This was a huge mistake by Belichick. Just. Admit. It.

"Made efforts to sign him" is not the same thing as "presented a contract which he then rejected." "Made efforts" and "talked" is what you say when you reached no agreement, presented nothing of substance, and decided to jettison the project and move on.

Man, you're reading an awful lot into statements that basically mean the same thing. Anything else your tea leaves are telling you this morning.?

We lost 8 games of Jimmy G cheering from the sideline in exchange for the #33 or #34 pick in the upcoming draft... Seems like a decent deal.

Now we can franchise our best and most reliable defensive player Malcolm Butler.

I want that second rounder to be as high as possible. I don't want JG to have a great year this year. Next year, sure.

That's you and the rumor mongers, not a fact.

Why believe Ian over journalists in Cleveland? There was a ton of talk about offering a first round pick. Beddard said this morning that he believed the number 12 was on the table.
The only report of a 1 was from Mary Kay Cabot, who clearly said SHE THOUGHT they would. No one ever reported inside info that they DID. The Cabot report became regurgiated over and over until people thought it was fact.
Bedard, as usual, is giving an uniformed opinion, and trying to present it like its a fact.

I thought the logic was that we were keeping Jimmy because he was the insurance if Brady got hurt, and maybe something could be done about an extension.....

And you are citing fact? More people in the know and writers in Cleveland all believed a first rounder was definitely doable and most believed it was number 12. You see one tweet and you are ready to torpedo all that? come on. You need to be realistic here.

How do you know he traded him for less? Were you in the draft room?

What you believe and the facts of the matter are two completely different things.

I'm not going to admit anything. However, I'd like you to admit you're wrong about the first round pick. Just. Admit. It!

No. Take off your Brady blinders for a minute and consider what just went down, and why. Brady has PROVEN himself capable of playing into his forties, which is why he's on the team and is why BB pulled the trigger on trading JG after being backed into a corner by Jimmy's demand to play NOW. Had Brady shown any signs of significant decline, chances are good JG would be seen as the 2018 starter. The Patriots WANTED to retain JG but it wasn't their decision.

So now we have ZERO backup QBs for the rest of the year? WTH?! Even if we sign one it'll take a while for him to get up to speed.

Not to mention the compensation is too low. I wasn't expecting two 1s, but he cost us a 2nd. And he worked out. I expected at least a decent profit.
Brian Hoyer shouldn't need too much time before he's up to speed in this offense.

I cited no facts, nor did you. If you believe some jamoke Cleveland reporter you need to question your Jimmy fanboy judgement

Its based on the evidence available. Just like you have an opinion based on evidence. The Patriots were unwilling to part with Jimmy in the offseason. We know that for a fact.

Man, you're reading an awful lot into statements that basically mean the same thing. Anything else your tea leaves are telling you this morning.?

There are just certain buzzwords anybody familiar with contract negotiation immediately recognizes. "We talked"; "We tried"; "We explored"; "We considered"; "He wanted"; "It became obvious". All these passive phrases actually mean, "We never put anything to paper." If there were an actual offer, you'd be hearing the main players saying things like "We presented"; "We offered"; "He rejected". I'm seeing none of the latter and a lot of the former.

So what you're saying is JG shot his way out of town? That's not a good look for the Pats and BB the GM.

Wow. So it was all about Jimmy and that f-ing Brady screwed it up by not sucking?

There was literally nothing, short of a carrer ending injury that Brady could have done in the first 2 months of the 2017 season that would have cost him his job. He as not on an audition.
JAG was a good backup, and BB wanted to keep him as a backup. Backups are important when the starter is older.

Your failure to accept that you were wrong that Brady was getting cut loose for Jimmy Boy, is making you look worst with every post.
He was traded, you were wrong.
