Jimmy G open to an extension

This means nothing
It could be he's the successor or lip service..I would not expect him to say you think I'm going to wait out Tom?
I've already scouted out real estate in Cleveland.

Well the Patriot way would been to say something like "I'm just focused on Mini Camp and doing what I can do to improve and help my teammates" the fact he came and said he would entertain it means he is interested n sticking around to be the heir as long as its not years away...

and who wouldn't consider the track record of this organization and Belichick I think maybe he would be ok with one more year on the bench I mean I understand the competitors mentally to wanting to sart right away and some people frowning on someone willing to rock the bench for a another year but this isn't just any football team this is the New England Patriots with Bill Belichick

so I can understand him if wants to wait another year to be the starter unless thats next year like some have speculated

This tidbit means less than nothing.

Uh....no. Usually you never hear players even remotely entertain the idea of an extension. Most definitely not NFL starter caliber QBs.

All the with gnashing and back and forth for month over Jimmy G and will he or won't he, should they or shouldn't they, his statement and the info from people close to him makes it very much more than less than nothing.

Just saying he'd entertain an extension, without further clarification, means nothing. For the next 3 years, his only leverage is cash. If he'd said "Sure, and I'll take less than I'd get with the Franchise tags" or "Sure, and I'll sign a 4+ year deal", THAT would have been something.

Psycho Tom ain't going anywhere for now. He can still play at an elite level. I personally think he's got 4-5 years left. He takes care of his body better than anyone I have ever seen. Father Time always wins, but brady can prolong it for a few years.

Look at Bernard Hopkins, still an elite boxer at 45 years old. Some people are rare specimens

as a backup qb in this day in age you really gotta wonder if its worth giving up an easy backup position if a team is willing to pay you say 8+ mil a year, in order to make double that as a starter knowing what players now know about concussions and such.

i think if im Jimmy, if the pats offer me something like 8 mil a year to back up tom, with incentives in the event that i have to start, i take it. Make a fortune, and also not take the beating starters take.

Stupid question lol, if he wanted out, would he really say "**** no, I can't wait to go start somewhere else!" Not saying it's impossible he sticks around but, there was only one real smart answer to that question. If he says yes he plans to stick around it'd cause mass hysteria that Brady is getting traded.

I agree, and he will likely be offered more than $8M a year plus incentives.

It looks like some posters here need to hope that Garoppolo didn't read Reiss' article suggesting a potential 1 year, $24 million extension.

I'd be pretty disappointed in Jimmy if he felt that way... He's a competitor, if his mentality is anything less than working hard every day to try and earn a starting QB job in the NFL, I don't want him on my team

Not to be negative, but what else would he have said?

The only way I'm coming back here is if that old ass Brady hangs them up.

You do know he's on the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick right? The Patriots... not Browns or Chargers Patriots... hell I don't care how good I am if I'm Jimmy I'd sit another year if that meant being the heir to Brady and play under Belichick and the most successful franchise in the NFL vs going to a dysfunctional 49ers or whatever hell the Colts have yet to put a complete team together for Andrew Luck, He's on the "Patriots" nothing outlandish about it

It's not what he said it's the way he said it.

Sure he said one thing but you could tell by his body language and the inflections in his voice that he clearly meant another.
