The Jets are enjoying the buzz right now, but here's what the hangover looks like:

This is why a friend of mine gave his trophy wife a debit card instead of a credit card...

Ref: New York Jets 2025 Financial Summary
Yup. And Wilson & Gardner are going to want to be paid very soon. They are going to have to cut or restructure Adams to avoid that cap hit, but Rodgers will probably retire anyway, so Adams will just get cut instead. Then they'll have lost their decent pick for mostly nothing, have no QB and be back at square 1.

It's pretty clear they have to cut Adams at the end of the year, otherwise they're on the books for the rest of his contract which is $36M/year for the next two years. Since it's not guaranteed and the Raiders are taking the accelerated cap hits they can more or less walk away from Adams.

It also seems to me unlikely that Adams will hit the marks needed to make this a 2nd round pick.

As for the compensation, the Raiders will receive a conditional third-round pick that can become a second-round pick based on performance, according to ESPN. The pick becomes a second if either of the following happen: Adams makes first- or second-team All-Pro, or he's on the active roster for the AFC Championship or Super Bowl.

Ref: Davante Adams traded to Jets: Raiders WR reunited with Aaron Rodgers as New York aims to turn season around

Last year's first team all pro WRs: Tyreek Hill, Miami; CeeDee Lamb, Dallas; Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit
Last year's second team all pro WRs: A.J. Brown, Philadelphia; Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams; *Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco; *Mike Evans; Tampa Bay

Ref: 2023 NFL All-Pro Team: See who made the roster

Best case for us is if he makes 2nd team All-Pro so he costs the Jete a 2nd round pick. I really doubt it. He'd have to end up being widely viewed as the sixth best WR in the league against some really great players. Da Jete have a tough schedule and their OL sucks so it's going to be hard for him to shine. Overall, I'm OK with the Jete doing well enough to get Adams that award. There's no way I see them being in the AFC Championship.

But then we get into the Ahole factor. We don't know if this is his last year, and if it isn't, he's gonna push for the Jets to not screw over his buddy Adams. My guess is they'll cut him and offer him something better than what Lazard is getting. If so, great, the Jete will have big contracts on two WRs above age 30 and a QB at age 43.

As usual, I can't see how this works out well for da Jete. If he does well he helps himself out at the expense of da Jete. If he doesn't do well, he's pretty mouthy and the NY media will be happy to broadcast his complaints.

Honest question:

If the JETs suck, what level of football purgatory have the Pats been relegated to?

Jets are in desperation mode. That was a bad loss last night.

Tyron Smith looks like '99-2000 Bruce Armstrong. Time is up.

Rodgers needs to cut out that damn hard count which is only fooling his own damn team! On the broadcast last night they said Salah said they weren't ready for it during the season....

Their talent has been overrated by many.

Remember when so many people wanted the Pats to trade for Rodgers? As bad as Favre was as a diva, Rodgers is a 1,000 times worse.

If there was no defender around, that would have been an impressive catch for Williams to make, considering he had fallen and was sliding. The Buffalo defensive back made a great play to dive for the ball, take it away from Williams and secure it while somersaulting. Rodgers would be smart just to give the defense credit instead of throwing his receiver under the bus.

That's what Ahole would do if he wasn't an ahole.

Instead he threw his teammate under the bus to force his team to trade for his binky.

And yes, teammates notice this stuff.

That's your opinion. Mine is that time has proven us right about da Jete, and this season is no different.
Doubtful. I guarantee they end with a better record that us.

I hate to break it to you, but the pats are the current poster child of a laughingstock franchise.

Rod Rust has entered the chat.

I've seen that movie, and this ain't it.

I hate to break it to you, but there's plenty of places to discuss the state of the Patriots on this forum and elsewhere, and this is not one of them.
