This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

I never said I'd take Rex over Billy. There was a qualifier to my comment. I said, in a head-to-head matchup, I'd take Rex over Billy.

Is that based on Rex going 4-9 against Belichick while he was HC of the Jete?

Or Rex getting one win in four tries while in Buffalo, with the lone victory coming against a third string QB with an injured thumb?

It's based on getting the win in the most important meeting.

To each their own man.
And we know what yours is:

We can debate how good Rex was in 2010 but his last five years as a HC was absolutely atrocious. Buffalo in particular was mailing it in to the extreme, having a good defense crumble under his watch. It reminds me of Phil Jackson with the Knicks, trying to force players into an outdated system. Both Rex and Phil were also lazy as ****. Hilariously Rex stumbled into the best offense of his HC career last year, for which he should get the smallest modicum of credit possible.

So great. He had one big win in 2010. Tony Sparano cleaned Belichick's clock once too. Pretending Rex is anything but a gimmick whose time is past is delusional, or par for the course for a Jets fan.

Which means based on that same logic, Mike Tomlin and Jim Caldwell are better head coaches than Rex.

That in turn means that you must also believe that Tomlin and Caldwell are better head coaches than Belichick.

Was this your diet growing up?

Ah ha! Ya finally admit it.
Admit what? I honestly do not recall doing it. So either I felt compelled to go in and set some idiot straight (perhaps you), or an imposter hijacked my screen name. Either way, it amounts to a single post 10 years ago. Try not to get too excited.

It means none of that.

Instead it means that in the playoffs, in NE, against a heavily favored opponent that had the "GOAT coach and QB", and with Mark Sanchez as his own QB... Rex rose to the occasion and won.

I know it's not likely to be admitted here, but you all know Rex had Billy's and Tommy's number. Give Rex a team that is at least halfway decent and he could baffle NE's offense.

Dude was/is a defensive genius and guys love playing for him.

I didn't join a board (JetsInsider) until 2010, and only joined JetNation like two years ago. So wasn't me.

"the most important meeting..." =

"Hey guys, remember the year the Pats didn't win a Super Bowl?" "Well the Jete almost got to one."

"Hey guys, remember the year you didn't get laid?" "Well I got to third base once"

Great Googly Moogly

How concvnient there was no chance for a rematch. Bill was there every year. So Rex wins a flukey game, where, yes, I agree he did a masterful job coaching, and then sucks so bad he is never even able to return to that stage. That's exactly why it's a fluke, and sports history is filled with them. If Rex and Belichick had equal teams and played 100 playoff games head-to-head, you are the only person delusional to think Rex wouldn't be completely outclassed.

Agreed. What could be a bigger kick in the jewels than starting the season on the Pats and ending up on the Jete? BB should use that as motivation to the rest of the players. Remember Kony! Do your job or you'll end up a Jete! That should put the fear of God in them!

Right now, Kony Ealy is in a locker room in Florham Park looking at a slime green uniform and sobbing, wondering how it all went so badly.

I think Ealy will have a break out year with the Jete. He'll break out with hives.

So 79, I get it. You need something to hang your hat on.......I guess beating the Patriots in a playoff game for inferior teams is quite an accomplishment. Kind of a David and Goliath kind of thing. So congratulations. There have been other teams that have come and gone too that took down the giant evwry so often too. difference of course is that like you they didn't kill the giant once and for all. Each one found lighting in the bottle and made a run for a year maybe two but no team has sustained excellence for any sustained time. The giant however returned again and again only to regain it's earned place at the top. They are unmatched for Superbowls. So go ahead and cling to the one year you were able to out match them......in a divisional game. Whoopie do.

@JetFan79 - I just laughed out loud. You are giving me life advice? *facepalms* Why wouldn't I be on a message board in my 20s? Statistically, there are probably more 20 year olds on message boards than 30 year olds you dingus! Also, I am a moderator for a HUGE anime website and am also a youtuber who has made money from his videos. So, who's wasting their time online? Me or you?

@Tunescribe - This Jets fan is so hopeless! How he ended up this way must have to do with his nuts being bashed in once too many times....
