I don’t think I have ever seen this board in such wide agreement about anything. It seems it is unanimous that whether they think Kraft will do it or not, everyone one of us wants Mayo fired on Monday.

Are there any posters that want him to keep his job?

That's the scenario I fear that's why I'm against giving Mayo Two years. Mayo is the Jordan Richards of HC's we all knew he was going to be a Bust Immediately after the selection. Please Krafts do not try to save face the world knows MAYO sucks no upside as a HC whatsoever.
When it was announced that Mayo was going to be HC (even when it was speculated), I said on here that Mayo wasn't even a Coordinator (let alone a successful one). He wasn't fit to be an NFL HC, or even a Division 1A College HC (and probably not even below that). He was a D.E.I. (Didn't Warn It), Virtue Signalling hire. People of a certain Political and/or Social Persuasion can vehemently deny that all they want, but at the end of the day, it doesn't make them right. He did not EARN the position of an NFL HC, and this season has done nothing but reinforce that point. We've been GIFTED with a True Franchise QB, and a True "Shut-Down CB, a ton of Cap Money, and high draft picks. If I were Kraft, I'd already have my new Front Office and HC picked. Yes, I'll play the Rooney Rule game (we all know that it's been done by EVERY team). And by the way, didn't Martin Luther King Jr. say that a Man (not a man of whatever color), should be judged by the content of his character (or abilities), and NOT his skin color? If a person or persons of whatever color or gender are best qualified to rebuild my team (if I were the owner), I would hire them. I don't need to be ordered by any rule to do with MY business what I deem fit).

Dear God. The Jete with a competent coach?? We are ****ed. QB or not.

Kraft already messed up not picking Vrable before Mayo. Huge mistake, imo. Monday is a big day for Robert . He could lose a lot of equity in a short time with the wrong decision. Make a courageous and correct decision, Robert, and try not to pat yourself on the back if you stumble into the right decision.

Nobody has made a compelling argument to retain Mayo. At the same time, there is not a hint that Kraft is reconsidering any of his decisions, exploring interest from Vrabel or anyone else. Like most here, I hope Kraft will bring in someone with promising NFL coaching experience and leadership qualities. I just don’t see any reason to think Kraft will do this.

The only argument about keeping Mayo is that changing the Offensive system in year two on your rookie QB isn't great ... but if they fire everyone and do a legit search for GM, and let them hire the coach I'm good.

We can get a haul For Arch Manning in 26.

It’s been rumored by NFL execs that Mayo somehow had a buyout clause of $10M had Bob decided to open up the HC search and go with someone else. This was why he chose Mayo as he was also already paying Bill and then pay a new HC.

Felger mentioned yesterday that a buyout still may have to happen in order to get rid of Mayo.

Bob created a real mess for himself.
That seems sort of weird. How/why would there be a buyout if Mayo is already in position and being paid? Presumably, Mayo would be handled the same any other fired HC would be handled - he would continue to be paid his salary through the end of the contract even if he is not here anymore. I assume the total value of the deal will be in excess of $10M but spread over 3+ years, with 1 year having already been paid.

Last year, if theoretically Kraft wanted to hire Vrabel instead of Mayo in '24, he would've been facing this math:
- Bill's 2024 owed earnings: $25M
- Mayo's buyout: $10M
- Vrabel's 2024 earnings: ~$15M
- Total HC costs in 2024: $50M

Instead he elected to just go with Mayo (probably ~$5M in 2024) plus Bill, for a total of $30M.

Now, if he waits and does this in 2025 instead, it should look like this:
- Mayo's 2025 owed earnings: ~$5M
- Vrabel's 2025 earnings: ~$15M
- Total HC costs in 2025: $20M

This means he only had to spend $30M in 2024 and now $20M in 2025, as opposed to $50M in 2024 and then $15M in 2025. Spreads out Mayo's cost.

Just about every offensive coordinator out there runs some variation of the WCO these days. I don't think the transition would be a big one, if that's the case.

Predictions I hope I am wrong about but worried I won’t be:

Patriots beat the Bills because Mitch Trubisky stinks up the joint.
We lose the #1 pick, end up at 4.
Kraft announces how proud he is of the team for fighting to the last minute and beating a SB favorite, and says that character is why he hired Mayo, so his job is safe.
He says AVP is safe because he doesn’t want to disrupt Maye ( with better coaching and play callling)
He says the defense other than 50 or so big plays was good and who can expect them to overcome injuries and they got better and played their best game against the bills (backups)

With the 4th pick we go defense, citing the fact that last years (useless besides maye) draft was all offense so we owes that pick to the defense and we need to do better against long runs because the run d is good if you take those away.

Armed with a schedule with 8 games against teams with 5 or fewer wins, we “improve” to 5-13 and Kraft takes a victory lap and says “see we got better, I was right about Mayo”.
Oh and we stand they year sitting on 50 mill of unspent cap

THE ORACLE HAS SPOKEN! Dear god I hope you’re wrong…

The transformation of the Pat’s into the Jests is nearly complete.

I would like to think we are not quite there yet but may be kidding myself. That’s the problem with being a Homer. Hey we have fired our coach mid season yet so there’s that. Maybe Mayo puts out a sex tape and gets ****canned soon…

No idea if Vrabel would turn the Jets into a perennial contender but I do know he will make them competent. And with three competent teams in the division, the embarrassment for this team will be reaching new levels.
Part of the negotiations to force Kraft’s hand a bit?

The bigger problem is finding any offensive coordinator who would be willing to come work for Mayo.

God spoke to Bob on the mountain in the holy land through a burning bush… Mayo isn’t going anywhere. They’ll fire Van Pelt and rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

They should can Mayo and Wolf immediately, hire Brian Flores to be HC and Daboll to be the OC/assistant HC… let Flores help hire the next GM.
