This is a huge opportunity for the Jets to take a game and half lead on the Patriots (since the Patriots have an additional divisional loss.) The Jets are seeking to win their 5th AFC East title, which would put them into fifth place all by themselves. Currently, the Jets rank here:

1. Miami Dolphins- 14 AFC East Titles
2. New England Patriots- 12 AFC East Titles
3. Buffalo Bills- 11 AFC East Titles
4. Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts- 6 AFC East Titles

6(t). Houston Oilers*- 4 AFC East Titles
6(t). New York Jets- 4 AFC East Titles

*The Houston Oilers left the AFC East in 1970.

So, the Jets can finally pull ahead of the Oilers if they can just taken home one more division title, a feat that requires beating three other teams.

The Jets have only had a mere 41 extra seasons in the division, but hey, better late than never, right?

Love this thread...

Can you make it through the rest of the day now?

Works for me, the long wait will just make the winning the division all the more enjoyable.

Of course it is a little early to crown the Jets champs of the AFCE for 2011.

Even with a Jet win come Sunday the Oilers could be safe.

Personally I would relish an AFCE championship, but the real victory can only be had in the SB.

Will Bob's be selling the AFC East Champion t-shirts and hoodies at a discount price?

No, Ocean State Job Lot and Building 19. Whatever's left over, will be sent to the kids in Nicaragua like the Pats perfect season gear in '07. See, I'm over it enough to joke about it.
