So it came down to a few more dollars now and a few more in the annuity.
Hes a very, very good CB.
...but hes not a Gilly 2018 level.
That's why Bill didn't stretch it.

Those 00s Chargers teams were pretty good. They just couldn't get past the boogeyman PatriotsIn my lifetime the Bolts have never been for real.
Jackson's a very good corner with a nose for the ball. I never thought of him in the level of prime Gilly, Revis, Law, Ramsey. Fair deal for a really good player and happy to see him get paid. if Mack and Bosa can force some bad throws, JC will feast.A lot of people who were against re-signing Jackson were saying how Jackson got most of his INTs from the most crappy QBs the Pats played with two of them being in the division. Well, that theory will be tested next year with six games against Wilson, Mahomes, and Carr.
I agree. I will be proven right or proven wrong. Looking forward to finding outA lot of people who were against re-signing Jackson were saying how Jackson got most of his INTs from the most crappy QBs the Pats played with two of them being in the division every year in the Jets and Dolphins' QB of the moment. Bill could've had him for $17m franchise tag. For one year.So it came down to a few more dollars now and a few more in the annuity.

Yep.Those 00s Chargers teams were pretty good. They just couldn't get past the boogeyman Patriots
But there where gap years in between where there was a holeBelichick didn't think he was all that good. Let's face it.
He's clearly in the Asante Samuel, Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan camp, in Bill's eyes.
I trust Bill to know how to evaluate a pro CB.
We brought in Gilmore, Revis and Talib, let Samuel, Butler, Ryan and now Jackson go.
I will miss Jackson. He was a good Patriot. I wish him well.
But I am happy we aren't tying 16.5M/AAV into a #1 CB. We can find serviceable starters in FA and the draft for fraction of that cost...and spend money on the front 7. We have DMac in the fold, Dugger is gonna be even better, Mills cna line up all over, Bledsoe should make an impact, and we get Jon Jones back in the slot.
Now if Joe Juan would only surprise us.......(fingers crossed)
..then it comes down to what Bill thinks his real AAV is.Bill could've had him for $17m franchise tag. For one year.
It's what he'll cost the Chargers this year anyway.
Yes, but they won the Super Bowl in 2016 in one of those gap years. Logan Ryan was our top CB against the Falcons. Gilmore joined in 2017.But there where gap years in between where there was a hole
I don't mean to bring up Brady again but... he was incredible that year. Our defense wasn't really that great that year, if you look past scoring defense.Yes, but they won the Super Bowl in 2016 in one of those gap years. Logan Ryan was our top CB against the Falcons. Gilmore joined in 2017.
