Slayton can take the top off, we don't have that now. Would be different if we did.
didnt know that. learned something today. ty for the info

He's a down field threat that's never had a decent QB throwing him the ball. Nabers benefited from playing with him wouldn't Deebo or whoever the Pats decide to feature?

Makes sense that they would... Homework time for me

I'd rather focus on Cooper Kupp than Deebo... Kupp is productive. Deebo is in decline.

as for slayton, he's eh... not much different than what we already have.
Kind of confused by this. Not saying that Deebo isn't in "decline" in the sense that he hasn't matched his peak production for a while... but he's 3 years younger and over the last 3 years he's played 43 regular season games to Kupp's 33. Deebo averages about 60 yards/game (rushing + receiving) to Kupp's 70, but Kupp is also a higher volume/less yards per touch guy in a different offense so it's not really too concerning.

I think both are in decline, to be honest. Kupp is older and wearing down and same with Deebo despite being younger takes a lot of physical beating with his playing style and versatility. Still, i think Deebo is the better option over the next 3 years vs. Kupp really for no reason other than age. I also think his skill set is a little harder to replicate, vs. Kupp's more specialized slot skills which I think are more plentiful leage-wide.

It was based on an article i read about him... maybe a change of scenery will do him good... who knows at this point

and quite frankly, I like Kupp better than Deebo. call it personal preference...as for age, one is 29, one is 32... when the 29 year old is in decline its more of a red flag to me

all things being equal, i'd take either at this point... i just think Kupp would try harder than Samuel

I saw Slayton brought up and I think he would be a tremendous add to the WR room along with Elijah Moore plus whichever WR they draft.

How high are you drafting a receiver? The numbers get kind of tight... You have us signing Slayton and Moore. Boutte and Douglas are here and producing on rookie deals. Polk and Baker did nothing last year, but draft status would have them as guys most teams wouldn't want to give up on after 1 year. That gets you up to 6, plus whoever you draft.

Competition is a good thing, just pointing out how the numbers can get crowded.

We will will have the same problem a bunch of 3,s and 4s with none being a difference maker or someone the Defense has to worry about each snap,

Do whatever needs to be done to get Maye top level protection and talent Asap.

Highest I would draft someone is 4th round and that as long as we fill other holes in FA and earlier picks.
We have
Jon Jiles, Jaquae Jackson, Bourne, Polk, Baker, Booty, Pop. Add Slayton, Moore and someone else that would give us 10 going to into camp and let the best 5 get a spot. Put 1 or 2 on PS if they get through waivers. Or drop Moore and trade for Kupp or Deebo with the 4th and take a shot at someone later.

This offseason should be about bringing in competition at every spot and raise the floor of the entire squad. That doesn't mean don't make big signings, still go grab DJ Reed, Josh sweat and one of the top LTs. Slayton may cost more than I personally would be willing to spend, but you get my point, hopefully.

Unfortunately, what might "need to be done" is to manufacture an available player out of thin air if you take "ASAP" to mean this offseason. This isn't considered a high end draft for WR1 or franchise LTs. We already saw the best receiver in free agency reportedly get tagged.

They definitely need to get better protection and weapons in here but the timeline for that might be a multi year thing and they shouldn't shun incremental improvement in the meantime. A bunch of ok receivers isn't as good as a legit depth chart with a real #1, #2, #3, etc., but it's definitely better than a bunch of bad receivers.

So you're suggesting that we should use our draft resources to get one of the top guys out there. We are a rebuilding team, so using those valuable resources on a guy that is going to cost 30M a year just does not seem wise.

I also want more competition on the OL, once Maye has more time he will get the ball to someone downfield. Then we also have to consider stopping the other team from scoring. We are changing defensive philosophy and that means that more than likely a fairly good size turnover will happen.

I am not saying don't get him weapons, I am just saying don't **** the rest of the team because you want a shiny hood ornament.

Not interested in more #2 WR's, we have too many. We don't need Randy Moss, but we do need someone who will draw double-teams often. Sending a speedster down deep is not good enough. The WR1 needs to be bracketed and open up opportunities for others to catch the football. We need someone who will be a clear #1 on our Patriots.

OK who?

I'd really like to be a fly on the wall in Vrabel's and Wolf's office. They will of course have a better answer for you. I hope they are working the phones like never before.

I agree with you, I am super intrigued by the upcoming moves.

If Hunter and Carter are gone, trade 4 to Pitt to take a QB in exchange for their first their third and Pickens.

**** that. More of the George Pickens is Randy Moss garbage. This is one of the worst ideas that has been floated around. George Pickens is a piece of ****, they should stay as far away from him as possible. And giving up the 4 pick to get him is pure lunacy.

Horrible idea!

Randy Moss, Corey Dillon, Rodney Harrison say hi. The 4th pick would be lunacy...agree. I get that I'm in the minority....but I would for a 3rd rounder.

It may be better for SF just to cut Deebo post June 1 and save $5 million.
They could, but that just moves most of the dead money into 2026 into 2025. They have a good bit more cap space this year vs next year in order to absorb the dead money hit, so it depends on if the pick is worth it.

My proposal was 4 for Pickens their first and a third.
I would be dancing in the street for that deal.

It’s the worst idea I have seen in this forum in a long long time. I would want all of them fired if they did that.

Just go sign Antonio Brown, you get all the problems without giving up anything for him.
