Jason LaCanfora: Pats really want Higgins "He's going to New England"

Total Hogwash. There are plenty of players who just singed contracts and due to dead money will be on this roster. Antonio Gibson was a bright spot this year and is not going anywhere. Why would the Pats move on from Cole Strange this year? Keion White? Hunter Henry? Davon Godchaux's contract is not friendly enough this year to cut him, and he won't be traded. Stop vomiting the stuff you hear in the media. To turn over just 40% of the roster would be a massive undertaking. That means 60% will return. Two may be considered all-pros, but there are plenty of others off limits because dumping them is not conducive to business.

Who are the others???

Oh come on. Read what I actually wrote. What is wrong with you?

Your getting ahead of yourself here Goblin lol.. I simply said who are the other all pros? I said nothing more than that. We have 2 home grown all pro players. Sounds your repeating what you hear to me.. i stated facts everything your saying is all what ifs.. if, if's were a 5th we'd all be drunk..

And I refuse to believe anyone else is off limits.. it does not mean the team WILL dump them. It simply means Drake and gonzo are foundational pieces they are less likely to be moved over anyone else not nailed down.. so we'll see.

As it should Be. The HC is the guy that should have final say on the roster.
No.

The HC should be the HC. The GM should be the GM. Ideally they would work well together. Ideally the HC has significant input. But the roster is ultimately the GM's job.

Alright as long as the GM is not named Elliott Wolf.

I believe Higgins will not only want to sign a long term deal instead of playing another year on the Tag but also wants to be the top FA in this next free agency and sign the most lucrative deal, players have these egos and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to be the most wanted player.
He's gonna tell them to pound sand if they come with this idea of tagging him again.
He doesn't exactly have much say in the matter.

Agreed. Typically he's a great patriots sports writer. But that was just asinine.. feels like kupp will probably be released or traded for a 5th ? Garrett still am absolute beast.. he wants to go to a contender.

I don't care if Garrett wants to go to the Patriots, he isn't worth the 4th overall pick. With the 4th overall pick, you want a Myles Garrett at 22 not Myles Garrett who is going to be 30 during the season next season. The 4th overall pick should be a player that plays at an elite or near elite level for close to a decade or even longer.

If the Pats wanted to trade the 4th overall pick for Micah Parsons, I would be all in. Garrett is too old and will likely be in decline by the time the Patriots are a contender again.

No. The HC is the one who coaches the players, who develops the players, who sets the culture who knows the players better than anything. Last time we had a coach that had final say I'd like to think it worked out pretty well.. I don't see San Francisco complaining..

Absolutely all in on parsons as that should be in consideration. We should Absolutely be in on Jerry Absolutely going bonkers with his recent decisions.
So let's try and dupe him for parsons..

Andy Reid, Sean McDermott and I’m guessing Pete Carroll are in control as well.

Your absolutely correct.. although on McDermott I don't believe he has final say..like Vrabel does.. Vrabel is essentially the man in NE.. I won't be the least surprised to see Wolf's role reassigned after the draft.

McDermott does as he brought Brandon Beane over from Carolina. It’s the same situation with Shanahan and Lynch and Reid and Veach. Lynch, Beane and Veach aren’t going to make decisions without the HC’s blessing.

Yes I see your point. On McDermott I just thought I may have heard that he had some input but not final say.. we know for sure Vrabel has final say. 1. Vrabel, 2. Cowden, 3 wolf and I believe Highsmith is mixed in there as well. What a **** show it was last season the "collaboration "

Maybe McDermott just trusts Beane and allows him to do his thing.

Yeah that is probably the likely scenario.. I know the team wasn't happy with McDermott some time ago making references to 9/11 to try to send a mess to his team. He's a weird dude..

The HC has too much going on to also be the lead scout, director of player personnel, general manager, etc, etc. There's a reason why the HC having final say on players is extremely rare in the NFL. You think you're reinventing the wheel when all you're doing is crashing the car.

It worked out pretty well here because he stumbled ass backwards into the greatest QB of all time. Once that guy left, how well did it work out?

And if you don't see San Francisco fans complaining, you must not follow football that much. They had their window which is rapidly closing. They are not a happy fan base.

Having a GM be a GM and an HC be an HC worked out pretty well for Philly. And KC. And LA. And Tampa Bay. But certainly not NE once the GOAT left.
