According to Michael Felger, it is Fears responsibility to make sure the substitutions go correctly and there are only 11 men on the field on offense at one time. So apparently he is to blame from the coaching staff.

BENCH HIM!!!

oh wait.. he's already on the bench.

How tough is it for the guy coming in to make sure the guy he replaces goes out? That's how we did it when I played basketball. It went like this:

I run in and tap Jimmy on the shoulder: "Jimmy, you're out."

"Okay." And Jimmy takes the seat I just vacated on the bench.

WE NEED HELP COUNTING TO ELEVEN?!?

Should the Pats have used a timeout when they realized there were 12 guys in the huddle?

It's a penalty at that point, I think.

i dont even understand how fears has stayed
wasnt he supposed to try and turn terry glenn into a standup guy
he did a great job on that

Although he does deserve criticism if he made a mistake, I think Fears has done an excellent job. Last year, Heath Evans comes in off the street and runs for 85 vs Miami. All of our backs are great w/ blitz pickup and run the screen pass well. Overall, a very good job.

The position coach moves players in and out depending upon the play and their own substitutions. That means a RB may be coming into a play where there wasn't a RB before. It's not always "I'm in, you're not." A position coach may do a one-for-one substitution, but different plays call for different formations. The position coaches get the play call and moves their guys in and out depending upon the play. If two TEs are sent in, the WR coach is the guy pulling the WRs or the RB coach pulling the RBs depending upon what positions are needed for the play. The player may just be sent, hear the call in the huddle and line up.

Still pretty frustrating. I think the better idea was to put 12 players on defense.

What makes anyone believe that Felger's information is correct? Has he ever offered any real scoops about the team? He was wrong about ted Washington signing. He is a horrible reporter and admits to having a drug addled brain from smoking weed.

That was a long time ago. I believe Fears is responsible for keeping Corey Dillon quiet. They are quite close and I think Dillon's success can be attributed to their relationship.

Anything Felger says or writes is subject to instense scrutiny and fact checking. He's a well known liar with an anti-Pats agenda.

Let's see, position groupings changing, illness, injuries...seems like a lot going on at a hectic pace. One screw-up in a 23 game season (pre-, reg-, post-), obviously it's time to fire him - Sam Gash is available, Mangini fired him.

NICE....I agree!

I think it was the only time in the game no commericals was taken with
teams changing

I thought it was a penalty to break the huddle with 12 men, but if we take a To we never break the huddle?

My understanding is that the intent is to not confuse the D if we are in a TO situation that wouldn't be an issue, interesting that this was the only time where there was no TV TO on a change of posession good catch by the poster who noticed this.
