Is Tom Brady Making the Right Move By Remaining Silent Before His Appeal?

Whatever he says ........can and WILL be used against him.

Don't speak Tom now or on the future regarding this subject. On to the 2015 season

He's not staying silent. He already spoke, nobody believed him, so now he's keeping quiet--as his legal team is surely advising him--while they conduct their own Project Manhattan that they'll be dropping on the league in the few months.

If you are paying big bucks for high powered attorneys, do you ignore their advice???

His attorneys will do the speaking for him at the right time in the right forum..

For some reason there are those who equate silence with an admission of guilt, nothing is further from the truth... Goodell allegedly wants to hear this appeal as he wants to listen to #12's side of the story, in reality Brady can remain silent, for the most part, and allow his legal team to rebut the Wells Report..

This whole thing is about a world that expects immediate responses to complicated situations..

I would also like to see Brady remain silent through the actual appeal as well. There is a way to look at this whole appeal and see Goodell hoping this doesn't go to court and wanting some sort of out. Maybe a "me and Tom had a heart to heart, he looked me in the eye and I believed him" to tell the media along with an acknowledgement of the flaws in the report. Not saying it would happen, but I see the potential for it. Would rather see them stick it to the NFL in court.

Yes, when you have better advice you do just that. Ben Violin, Rob Parker, and Marshall Faulk are professionals who understand football and media relations better than any lawyer ever will, and they are just looking out for Tom's best interests. Brady should listen to them, admit his guilt and apologize for deflating balls and fixing games so that other teams would lose, so he should just beg forgiveness and provide Marshall with a lifetime of pedicures.

I understand your optimistic hope, but I don't think there's the slightest chance of any such acknowledgement or leniency from The Dope. In fact, I'll even be surprised if he reduces it to two games. I think he smells blood in the water and the other 31 owners are fully behind him on this issue. Deflategate resurrected his career as commissioner with the owners and fans outside NE and I don't think he's taking his foot off the gas pedal.

I think he will keep it at four, and then Brady is going to sue the panties right off of them.

That's the scenario I'm hoping for, unless The Dope rescinds the suspension altogether. Candidly, there's a loud voice in my head that keeps telling me I'd rather see the former than the latter. I think that voice is right.

It would be great if after the appeal he gets suspended for a year based on testimony that deflating was referred to weight loss. Then Brady can really sue for defamation.

It seems clear Brady is fighting this all the way. So from a strategic standpoint, it is the best thing to do. His side of the story will come out over time and likely poke more and more holes in the Wells Report.

From a short term PR standpoint, it isn't the best move. But Brady is more concerned about the long game.

Let us hope & pray that the Bradys and Krafts don't have any neighborhood barbecues this summer where Vichy Bob talks Tommy Boy into folding at first contact with the enemy.

Sorry to say it again but TB12 is not taking this past the appeal. All of you expecting him to go to court after R.G. makes his decision are going to be disappointed. TB and the two morons want NOTHING to do with speaking under oath. Lying to the NFL, the press and the public poses no risk of freedom. Lying under oath can get you sent to jail.

He has nothing at all to lie about.

The football pressure data is not inconclusive. It SHOWS that he has nothing at all to lie about.

Tell me how he commanded 3 footballs to be deflated by a nearly imperceptible amount, 4 footballs to be inflated by a nearly imperceptible amount, and 5 footballs to be left alone?

Then tell me why he would want footballs of widely varying inflation levels, with no way to decide which one the ref would put into play at any time?

Crazy stuff there......

And you have evidence that Tom is lying where, exactly? Spare us your argument from ignorance.

So there is a chance that Fraudger could end up in jail. Good. Go for it Tommy.

I think you might be underestimating Brady, or confusing him with Kraft. No way Brady takes any suspension of any kind. I think the entire Brady family is ready to do battle.

Btw, let's salute a real hero. Pat Tillman. And let's ask ourselves this. Would a man who says the words below sit back and take crap from the likes of Goodell and his band of Jetsons? I say no way.

“So use all that is called fortune. Most men gamble with her, and gain all and lose all, as her wheel rolls... A political victory, a rise of rents, the recovery of your sick or the return of your absent friend, or some other favorable event raises your spirits, and you think good days are preparing for you. Do not believe it. Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles.”
? Pat Tillman

Other than lawyer advice ... that the NFL continues to provoke Brady tells me he has the better hand.

Brady is doing the right thing by staying silent. However, if he were to say something I'd like to see something like this..

"Goody....I'm coming to get you..."

So... don't lie? It's not hard. If he actually is innocent--and I believe he probably is--he has every incentive to go to court.

The stakes to be gained if Brady wins are greater than any Superbowl he has won.
