Is Tom Brady Making the Right Move By Remaining Silent Before His Appeal?

He's not staying silent. He already spoke, nobody believed him, so now he's keeping quiet--as his legal team is surely advising him--while they conduct their own Project Manhattan that they'll be dropping on the league in the few months.

For some reason there are those who equate silence with an admission of guilt, nothing is further from the truth... Goodell allegedly wants to hear this appeal as he wants to listen to #12's side of the story, in reality Brady can remain silent, for the most part, and allow his legal team to rebut the Wells Report..

This whole thing is about a world that expects immediate responses to complicated situations..

I would also like to see Brady remain silent through the actual appeal as well. There is a way to look at this whole appeal and see Goodell hoping this doesn't go to court and wanting some sort of out. Maybe a "me and Tom had a heart to heart, he looked me in the eye and I believed him" to tell the media along with an acknowledgement of the flaws in the report. Not saying it would happen, but I see the potential for it. Would rather see them stick it to the NFL in court.

Yes, when you have better advice you do just that. Ben Violin, Rob Parker, and Marshall Faulk are professionals who understand football and media relations better than any lawyer ever will, and they are just looking out for Tom's best interests. Brady should listen to them, admit his guilt and apologize for deflating balls and fixing games so that other teams would lose, so he should just beg forgiveness and provide Marshall with a lifetime of pedicures.

I think he smells blood in the water and the other 31 owners are fully behind him on this issue. That's the scenario I'm hoping for, unless The Dope rescinds the suspension altogether. Candidly, there's a loud voice in my head that keeps telling me I'd rather see the former than the latter. I think that voice is right.

It seems clear Brady is fighting this all the way. So from a strategic standpoint, it is the best thing to do. His side of the story will come out over time and likely poke more and more holes in the Wells Report.

From a short term PR standpoint, it isn't the best move. But Brady is more concerned about the long game.

Tell me how he commanded 3 footballs to be deflated by a nearly imperceptible amount, 4 footballs to be inflated by a nearly imperceptible amount, and 5 footballs to be left alone?

Then tell me why he would want footballs of widely varying inflation levels, with no way to decide which one the ref would put into play at any time?

I think you might be underestimating Brady, or confusing him with Kraft. No way Brady takes any suspension of any kind. I think the entire Brady family is ready to do battle.

So... don't lie? It's not hard. If he actually is innocent--and I believe he probably is--he has every incentive to go to court.
