Honestly, I'm not sure any of us could possibly know. We all know in a 3-4 that the NT is the most important position, but we also have to remember that Seymour is also in a contract year. Both are equally important parts to the DL. If there isn't an uncapped season in 2010, one of them is gone.
Since I have to make up my mind here, I'm going to go ahead and guess "yes" based on what I've seen:
1. The drafting of Ron Brace speaks volumes about how the negotiations are going. However, he may be best suited for DE in our system so we can't draw a conclusion based soley on that.
2. If there is not an uncapped season, Big Vince will most likely command HUGE money (which he rightfully deserves) and we probably won't be able to give it to him.
3. We seem to be going into a 4-3 more often in training camp and certainly in the first preseason game. The drafting of Ron Brace and Myron Pryor enables us to do that (although I will say that it's the biggest looking 4-3 I've ever seen). If we stick primarily with the 4-3 throughout the regular season, it may make Vince more expendable as we can have both Brace and Pyror playing in the DT positions after that. Neither is as good as Vince but I have faith in BB's ability to make it work.
So, while I love Vince, I fear that he might be on his way out after 2009. I certainly hope not, but the evidence that we have is pointing in that direction.
