Current Patriots Twitter Feed:

Is this the cliff that Max Kellerman has been talking about? Or are the receivers just that bad?

Forgive me if we have other threads discussing this but I’ve been thinking about it all day.
I’ve been watching patriots football since I was 7, so all of Brady’s career and I’ve never seen him flustered in the pocket consistently like he is now. He never used to throw the ball in the dirt every other play or consistently throw really bad interceptions. We hold Brady to a high standard because he is the GOAT, I’ve always said if Tom thinks he’s going off a cliff and can’t play at a high level anymore, that’s when he will hang em up. Remember 2013 when he was throwing to Kenbrell Thompkins, Aaron Dobson and Austin collie? It seems like that offense put up better numbers. Remember 2015 when the offensive line gave him almost no time at all in the afc championship? In a hostile environment and we still had a chance to win in the end. It just seems like that magic is gone, I may be wrong and I hope I am wrong but Brady just looks miserable out there.

It's the receivers mostly. It's the worst group Brady has ever had. Maybe 10 years ago he could have made it work but at age 42 and a million games later he no longer has that ability.

I don’t think he’s flustered in the pocket but think there is something really wrong. I’m not going to be “that fan” like a Giants fan making excuse after excuse. There are plenty of problems with supporting cast, but we are talking about a guy who is known to excel under any adversity better than any team sports athlete of the modern era. If he were putting out average production given the circumstances, I’d scoff at the notion that Brady is one of the problems. But this is very, very far from average production. It’s hard to watch. Kind of hoping there is some injury that will clear up soon, and it has limited his throwing range...otherwise, I feel like a homer denying something is very wrong.

Potentially neither. The WRs aren't on the same page with Tom and he definitely seems more frustrated with having to carry the load. At the same time, I don't see any of the scheming to create space for the WRs that the team used to do and there doesn't appear to be a cohesive offensive approach. It's very piecemeal, as if data collection is the primary goal and success is secondary.

    It's a puzzling year.

What’s with putting smug “funny” icons on these? If this were someone on another team, not named Brady, I’m sure all of you would chalk it up to supporting cast? I don’t think he had fallen off of a CLIFF but how can you not be concerned about a 42 year-old suddenly playing in unchartered bad territory, in comparison with the rest of his career (compared to league standards.). I want him NOT to decline as much as anyone...

I've seen Brady flustered before. He is flustered. He is not confident. But that doesn't mean this is the cliff. The cliff happens when one of two things occur: one, he loses zip on the ball. Two, his reflexes can't adjust to the speed of the pocket.

I saw him moving as well as ever in the pocket last night. Anyone who saw him throw that second TD knows that was a thing of beauty that few NFL QBs have the ability to do.

But his feet aren't set on many throws because he is not fully confident in his line or WRs. That's mostly on him, but I have seen him play like this before, for sure.

Lastly, I'd point out that Marcus Cannon had the flu. Hopefully, he'll play better now that he's over it.

For next year, my draft looks like this:

    1. OL
    2. TE
    3. OL
    4. TE
    5. OL
    6. OL
    7. pass rusher
    FA: top flight WR

Sure..he’s played like this before, but not over an 8 game stretch with very few moments where he looks like himself...and not consistently against crap defenses.

The only way to get an idea is by watching actual game film, not a couple of tweets and think you know what’s going on.

Bingo. Ball doesn’t look right at times coming out either. I can’t remember seeing so many passes with no receivers nearby either. Time will tell but they say it comes and comes fast. I think if they had AB it would decide it one way or the other.

It’s pretty frustrating to see other WR’s drafted in 2019 having successful seasons with dumpster QBs. Metcalf was supposed to be almost untouchable with his inability to run routes...he’s even having success.

Wasn't it a knee injury last year? I'm betting it's the elbow or even shoulder how some of these throws are inaccurate

Isn't judge in charge of receivers and special teams? Spread too thin? Are we seeing the effect in loss of coaches this past offseason?

I really think it was Marshall Newhouse. He was throwing the ball away in 1/3 seconds.

He'll round into shape over the last few games.

At Baltimore he actually looked decent even with Newhouse. But he had to throw it away a lot. Last week in 25 mph winds and rain, the conditions were not optimal.

Yesterday he had plenty of time to throw, but it was inexplicable what happened.

They will turn it around against KC, Cincy and the Bills. All they need is 3 TDs and FG and no turnovers from the offense. It is good enough to provide that. Hope there isn't a problem with Ferentz though.

If you replaced the entire secondary except one player, and all the LBers would the defense be good?

Kind of what they did to the WR and TE position.
