A few similarities:

1. a bending defense that gives up a lot of yards, but seems to not give up as many points as you think they would

2. an offense that looks out of sync for extended periods and then gets key drives when they matter and does enough to win

3. a new defense that seems to be coming together more and more

4. a serviceable and not flashy RB (like A Smith)

5. short yardage receivers with good YAC (like Troy)

6. good special teams

There are some big diffs

1. the earlier team was more experienced on defense with some established talent in the DB -- Milloy and Law

The past couple of week reminded me of those teams... as much as I liked '07 I find these games vastly more interesting and intense..

TO me the similarity with 01 is that the whole > the sum of the parts. BB made his reputation this way. The last few years people recognized the previously unrecognized talent of those teams and after 04 they said that BB was only as good as his talent. Now he is restoring his "genius"...
