Re: Yes - Rodney to the Patriots what Bob Sanders is to the Colts?

Bob Sanders is a younger version of Rodney. He will only get better.

Another good point brought up in this thread is how important safeties are to the success of teams.

Why then come draft day are safeties bypassed for their more sexy counterparts - Cornerbacks.

Ed Reed, Palamalou; Sanders; Rodney.....

I don't think Sanders is a younger version of Harrison. I would take a 25 year old Rodney Harrison over Bob Sanders any day. Sanders is 5-8 206 lbs and Harrison is 6-1 and 220 lbs. Harrison at 25 could hand the abuse his body took making those big hits. Sanders can't. That is why he has played more than 6 games in a season once in his career.

Quick poll...

Are some of you really saying Rodney Harrison RIGHT NOW (lets say both are 100%) is better than The Hitman Bob Sanders?

That is not the question Ryan. Read the premise of the thread. This was not intended to compare Rodney to Sanders.

However, I'll still take Rodney today at 100%. And, if we had Rodney at 90% you would not be gloating now. You would be saying what you said last year at this time.

Rodney fits the definition of a playmaker:
  • Would've been a much needed veteran presence for the entire secondary (smarts)
  • Is an intimidator with his hits vs any receiver (footsteps anyone?)
  • Knows how and when to blitz (the NFL's all-time sack leader among active DBs)
Simply stated -- Rodney is a difference-maker
