The Jets are excellent against the run, actually being the best in the NFL.
The Jets are not as good against the pass.


What do you think any intelligent person would use as a basic game plan against the Jets?

You'd be surprised how many times I mockingly do a play call in my head, then laugh and roll my eyes in annoyance because it plays out exactly how I envisioned it.

"It's 2nd and 12, I bet they run Blount in to the line here and he gets about one yard."

I hate the too predictable argument. It is such a bogus argument.

First, people say a play is too predictable many times because they correctly called a passing play based on the formation, but the passing play itself was a surprise play. That doesn't make it predictable. The opposing defense knowing that it is going to be a pass or a run doesn't mean they actually know where Brady is going to throw to or if the Pats are going to run to the middle or break outside.

Second, I always say that it is always more heartbreaking for a defense when they know what is coming and can't stop it. The Jets' play calling on the overtime drive was very predictable, but they drove down the field anyway without the Pats being able to stop it.

Third, on many of the plays people call predictable, the Pats still burn the defense and catch them off guard. In previous years, the Pats made the plays. This year not so much. If the Pats are too predictable and get a big game on the play, they aren't actually too predictable.

That claim was a complete load of crap. It's like the people who tried claiming that the Patriots always run after they throw an incomplete on first down. It's just them completely ignoring reality in favor of their preferred impression of what actually happened.

And the running on 2nd down after an incompletion is accurate, the statistics back that up. I believe against Cincy the play calling was 5/5 on second down running plays after an incomplete pass.

Tell you what.... Feel free to take a look at the box score from this Jets game. Get back to me about that "running on 2nd down..." stuff. If that's not enough, go back to the Saints game from last week. Then go take a look at that Bengals game, and look at the plays at 1:57 and 1:50 of the second quarter, and at 1:48 and 1:44 of the fourth quarter.

As for the rest: like I said, you're choosing a falsely remembered version of reality that fits your gripe rather than the actual reality.

And don't try pulling out the "semantics" argument when you deliberately went all caps with the "EVERY SINGLE play" line.

Yeah, I remember a week or two ago people complaining about McDaniels for calling a play that was clearly a Brady check off in the red zone that failed miserably.
