Since I was told by a mod to wait till the offseason here goes. I know some will be clutching their pearls at the mere mention of this but is it time to part ways with Bill? I have always said he is the greatest coach to ever do it but at this point I am wondering if the game has passed him by. The refusal to get a real offensive coordinator with a once promising second year quarterback has severely hindered Mac's development and has likely cost us a couple games this year. In addition to that the team just looks poorly coached all the way around and very poorly constructed on offense.

The offensive line is a mess and swapping the tackles never seemed to make much sense. The situation at receiver is also a mess. A bad contract from the start for Agholor. The trade for Parker, who is oft injured and can't get open, and Bourne, who has spent most of the season in the doghouse. The tight end situation might be the worst on the team. Jonnu Smith, who currently averages 1.8 catches a game for a whopping 17.2 yards and 0 touchdowns, is set to count $17.5 million against the cap next season (and $19 million if he is cut). Hunter Henry isn't looking much better averaging 2.1 catches a game for 29.6 yards with 2 touchdowns but at least he can be cut next year with "only" a $5 million cap hit this offseason. These two are taking up $23 million in cap space to average about 4 catches and 47 yards a game.

The special teams unit, which Bill always seems to have prided himself in, is also a complete mess outside of Nick Folk and Marcus Jones. Jake Bailey was flat out terrible and seems to have declined each year since his all pro season yet for some reason Bill decided to re-sign him and he would cost about $4.5 million in dead cap next year if he were to be cut. When we aren't punting poorly we are getting punts blocked. Yesterday the ball was snapped and the half punt protection unit seemed unaware and it led to a touchdown before the half for the Raiders. Sprinkle in a running into the kicker penalty to keep a drive alive and a 90 some odd yard touchdown return given up against the Vikings this unit keeps finding new ways to screw up.

I have been one of the many calling out Bill's drafting over the last few years but I actually think he has picked some good players recently but are they going to stay here? It seems like we let a lot of good players walk but at this point can you blame some of them if they don't want to re-sign here even if we want them to stay? Is Jakobi going to want to come back here with the situation at OC? There have been rumors since the summer Mac isn't in love with this Patricia experiment so is he going to force his way out if Matt is still the offensive coordinator? Going into free agency or the trade market won't be an easy sell to come play in the cold for a grumpy coach and and a defensive guy moonlighting as an offensive play caller. This team has been middling in the post Brady era and the flaws are starting to snowball and I hate to say it but I think Bill Belichick is a major part of the problem.

Excellent Post Brother: BB will definitely have to earn that $20Mill this year and get better Position Coaches for this Team. Stop the square peg in round hole nepotism crap.

The letter we got from Kraft makes me think he's going to have a heart to heart with Belichick. How that conversation goes will determine if we move on or not

It's boilerplate from when the Pats have a losing season. I wouldn't read that much into it.

Kraft did say last year it concerns him we haven't won a playoff game in 3 years. It has now been 4 years and missed the playoffs altogether in 2 of the last 3 seasons.

She's gone. If @Ian wants to lock it I won't complain but it is asinine not to at least have the discussion at this point.
Everytime BB's smiles and its not often you see archstan543's face. The ball washing I tell you.

If Bill wants to retain his entire coaching staff, then Bob needs to move on now. The longer this drags out, that means Bill and the coaches aren’t going anywhere.

Bill has also held his 4th Annual December Slide going 2-4 this year and should’ve been worse.

Carroll got fired and didn’t have a losing season at the mercy of a terrible GM. Bill has had two losing seasons post Brady and was 5-13 before Brady took the field as a coach and GM. I hope Bob sees this trend and asks Bill what they plan is.

I don't think it's time for him to go, but is he on notice to some extent? 100%. He has to be willing to make significant changes to the coaching staff first and foremost.

My question to those of you who say no is how much longer do you want Bill to stay if we look how we did the last couple years? If we go 10-7 and lose in the first round again are you fine keeping Bill? If we win 8 or 9 games and miss the playoffs are you keeping him? I am just curious to see what the bar that has to be met is for the people who want to keep Bill.

I’d prefer giving him another year IF substantial changes are made to the staffs for Off, ST, and maybe even Defense (add some brain power).

I’d also prefer Bill not get final say on FA signings.

No, No, No.......who would be his replacement ? It's too soon. I believe if things don't change in 2023 then yes it is time to have that discussion but for now I think Kraft gives him another year to right the ship . I don't have anyone in mind that can take over and have some immediate impact and success with this team .

Another year of no playoffs or a 1st round exit and you start over IMO.

Congrats on last night. I figured it would be a blowout but I didn't expect to to get that brutal.

At least playoffs with a new coaching staff and create the illusion they could contend for an AFCE title. Any less and it’s time to go.

My dream is we throw a bunch of money and probably a couple picks for McVay but I would love to see a guy like Ben Johnson from Detroit. Young guy who made that Lions offense one of the best in the league. I wouldn't mind Mayo or Demeco Ryans either but I would prefer an offensively minded coach.

I’ve been saying the same thing for a while - one more season. It’s make or break this year. If the team is the picture of mediocrity again and we don’t win a playoff game next season, part ways, bottom out, and move on.

I'd say not yet because I'm sure Bill won't need to be told to make the changes that have to be made. I think his seat is a little warmer now though. I'm a little worried that he's losing Mac and some of the locker room and I've always said we'll know it's time for the coach to go when we hear that stuff. I don't like his lukewarm "endorsement" of Mac if you can call it that. That's not helpful. Also feels like Bill's cantankerous public persona is getting tiresome tbh.

I also don't think this team is as close to contention as we thought. There are just so many holes that have to be filled. So I don't think the Patriots should just be ok with stumbling their way to 19 more wins just for Shula's record. This team under Kraft was never about one guy.

It's tough because I think 7 wins or so is the Patriots floor under BB. BB is a good enough coach to prevent this team from bottoming out no matter what the roster is but to get the elite talent that we really need maybe that needs to happen.
