It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I don't see how anyone can even "like" or "not dislike" any other team but your favorite team. I blame this on f#cking fantasy sports where fantasy geeks grew up rooting for players on other teams. I'm 41 and I first played fantasy football back in 89 or 90 and I drafted a ton of Rams players - Henry Ellard, Jim Everett, on offense. Mind you, we didn't have the fancy "Internets" to help us and tell us whom to draft - you used your head and thought for yourself.
At any rate there was one game in which a Rams loss would help the Pats and I found myself in a position of rooting for the Pats or for my fantasy team. Patriots easily won out. After that I was done. What was the point of fantasy sports if you can't root for your team 100% of the time?
How can you not "hate" the the NYJ? They're a division rival, they ratted on the Pats multiple times! How can you not dislike every team that is not your favorite team? Are there Patriots fans that actually "like" other teams? Like other players? That is ridiculous. It's all about the laundry. It drives me nuts when I see supposed Pats fan millennials or younger jerking off to "Megatron" or "Beast Mode".
I suspect many of the people on this board that "like" other teams or players are not from "the area" (I'm not saying "New England" because there are plenty of parts of NE where the Pats are not the #1 team: Giants in half of CT, Bills in northeast VT & NH, etc). I'm guessing these folks are the types who became Pats fans because Brady and Moss were good in Madden when they were 11 or 12...
These people have no idea what it's like playing as the Patriots in Madden 92 on Genesis!!!!!!
My point is simply opinion - I find it ridiculous that people root for players or teams other than the team you've rooted for since you can remember. And I suspect that those who do so a.) weren't born a Patriots fan, b.) simply cherry picked the Patriots as "their" team because they were really good, and c.) are really more "fantasy" fans than Patriots fans. Simply an opinion...and I loathe fantasy sports. If I want to bet on sports I'll go to Vegas or call the local book....What I don't understand about this post is "Why is it so hard to separate the two? Are you saying someone can't be all in on the Patriots and play fantasy football at the same time? btw I played as the Bills in Madden 92 and the Raiders,Giants or Bears in Tecmo Bowl. Blasphemous, I know.
