Is DT still a need?

I seem to be an outlier on this, but do you really not see LB as a significant need?

Yep, I do, my bad. LB depth is very porous but at least the starters in a 4-3 alignment have ok depth. If they want to run any 3-4 looks then OLB is quite weak and a smaller coverage type LB could come in handy.

Easier said than done but I would love a 10 year starter at right guard in round 1 then fill in the rest of the pieces. Looks like another year where rookies are going to have a tough time cracking the roster.

I think we could have a chance to get a pretty good OG at 62. The two guys rising fast are Clemson's Brandon Thomas and Trai Turner from LSU who could be a 1st rounder and in the running to be the first interior O-lineman taken. You never know how the draft can fall and I would love someone like XSF (unlikely), Yankey or Gabe Jackson at 62 with the idea of moving Connolly to C. It looks like there could either be a run on OL in the 2nd round or some very talented guys fall.

Well, everybody does call Joel Bitonio the next Logan Mankins...

Yes but not a high need. At this point my philosophy is pretty much this. That you don't over extend to get a DT. I think this ends the argument of trading your first and 2nd to move up to get Donald. Though I still think if he falls to 22 (possible if he falls past 16) or so and you can use a 3rd rounder to get him you still do that.

Also this means I am not looking at anyone outside of the top 5-6 DTs to draft.

Basically I don't see a point of looking for anyone below true starter level cause we already have quality backups. If they can not make an immediate impact and challenge for starting snaps there is no point getting them on this team.

Yes, but not with a 1st or 2nd round pick. I expect Vellano, Jones and Siliga to improve with a full camp as possible starters, not in the bottom of the depth chart.

Wilfork and Kelly I don't know that to expect, but with them we can at least wait a little longer, maybe draft some developmental DT after the 5th round. There is no room for all those players and I'm not even counting Armstead, this guy will never play a down for the Patriots.

We should use our top picks in TE, OL, WR and why not RB or safety.

We have a lot of locks to make the roster right now, maybe we shouldn't trade down, just use the picks at the current spots and bring the bpas.

I'm 100% certain we will draft Ryan Shazier if he is on the board. PatsFans will erupt in disappointment, but it will totally be the right pick.

In the first community mock, we voted for Shazier as a first round pick. Not sure Patsfans will erupt.

Depends who is on the board. I am okay with a trade back but I would want a corresponding trade up later as I think we don't need more than 8 picks.

Right now considering need and value of the players I stand pat for Shazier, Ford and Ealy. That is about it.

I don't think one of the top Safeties fall (if they do.. maybe). I don't think I'd draft any of the WRs that could fall to us. KB is the most interesting cause he almost fills a TE need but I don't think his ceiling is high enough for his bust potential.

I don't believe in drafting interior OL in round 1. And I don't think ASJ/Amaro/Niklas are worth a first round pick.

Also Hageman/Nix/Jernigan are all interest (especially Hageman IMO) but idk if the value for our team is worth it. It just is no longer a need position as things stand THIS year. If Donald falls in a reasonable range in round 1 or Tuitt/Easily fall into the low 2nd round they are worth picking up.

Hey manx, we all know the regulars in this board represent the top 10% of PatsFans.com

Well there's certainly a quotient of Patsfans members that will erupt at just about anything

It really depends on the player, if the guy is a blue chip starter, then a 1st round pick is entirely reasonable for a DL.

However I wouldn't be disappointed either if we waited till the 3rd/4th round area and take some middle tier guys like Caraun Reid/Justin Ellis etc.
