Is a Parsons trade realistic?

I mean, they're our picks. Probably somewhere in the 10-20 range both years.
I think that's a move that sets your team back years at this point. I go back to the Khalil Mack trade. I think the Pats are too far away to deal that many assets when they are still picking (likely) in the middle of the round. I think if they were, say the Redskins Commanders, now you'd 100% make that deal. Now, here? No. Sign him? Youbetchya.
I care about picks and I don't - especially when you think about the historical success of the draft slot.

If we were the Bills and knocking on the door every year and needed a player to get over the hump, then i'd do it. 2 1st rounders at the back end of the draft.

Because we are and in rebuilding mode, then i'd be more cautious with the picks. Maybe a 1st this year and a 2nd.

I have no problem paying him top-of-the-market.
I do have a problem trading multiple first round picks.

Therein lies the rub. Jerruh's ego could really only allow for a Parsons trade he could sell to his fan base as him fleecing the other team into making a Godfather offer. As a Pats fan I can accept they would use a first in the next couple of years on a potential stud pass rusher so it makes sense they'd trade a first for for a proven one. The problem lies in giving up more than one AND coughing up top of the market level cap space to do it.

I still suspect it's all a pie in the sky discussion anyway. While there may well be some team that's willing to give up way too much for Parsons it's hard to believe he gets traded I think it's too much risk exposure for an 82 year old win now Jerruh. I also think his QB situation keeps Dallas from being a win now team but I doubt he does and that's a completely different discussion

If you want to give up *next* year's first or 2027's first for Parsons, I could be talked into it, absolutely, especially since, as you said, you're probably taking one anyway.

No way am I sacrificing for both years, that's a step too far. It's far too Jetsian of a move for me to get behind.

Two 1s for Parsons. No Thanks. We didn't get anywhere near that for Judon. And I don't for a minute believe Judon was THAT much less a player than Parsons.

For another team…. yes.

Unlikely… but possible.

The PACKERS make total sense to give up that kind of draft capital. Their defense looks awful this preseason. A team who is in their window, in a tough division, with a glaring hole that can put them over the top. Their picks for the next couple of years will be in the late 20s.

Negotiations not going well (so it appears). would Jerry really let him go?
Naah. Jerry always caves and pays his favorite players big money. It has happened over and over again. From Romo to Prescott to Zack Elliot, etc. They won't let Parsons go, Jerry's ego won't allow it.

I think there’s a 5% possibility of it happening, and I’m an optimist.

Yep. I'm sure they can figure it out but between CeCee, Dak, and Parsons you'll have close to 2/5 of the cap to 3 players.
Actually w Dak ($74Million) and Cee Dee ($38million), you have 40% of the cap without Parsons. I don't know where they find the cap space as they have $20 million approx for Diggs, Osa and Tyler Smith, that's another $60 million.

The biggest point Im not seeing here is that Micah's acquisition is Gonzo. To start with, probably shuts down any chance of us locking him long term early

then, are we willing to spend close to 80M per year for 2 players? It's a hard question, but not since it would be almost and "just" 1/4 of our Cap, for some years

Having Maye on a rookie contract make it feasible, but it puts a lot of distortion in our team building mentality, very unlike our BB's years.

Micah Parsons is a young Lawrence Taylor.

Mmmm No
He will sign an extension with the Cowboys soon.

If he got drunk enough and someone said their proposed deal would include significant amounts of glory hole...

Yea I was guessing the 2026 cap would be around $290m. Parsons would be around $20m in his first year and more in 2027. That's about $132m for only three players.

Looks like we have a price. Yea or nay?

I'm not giving up draft capital and paying him the most in the league coming off a major injury. Also, I'm not a fan of his style of play.

The high ankle sprain has healed and the back "injury" is BS.

I think Micah wants like 3 years of a new contract, so he can become a free agent before his 30s once more That to me is kinda of red flag (orange flag?).

I mean he will get 100M plus easily, so he is just looking for the bottom line. Fine

But, with the mercenary look, is he trying to become a "legend" in any club? looking for titles and such? Usually bad teams have more capital than good ones

then one might wonder if the love for the game is there. Some rusher play well beyond the 30s, whenever his physicals start to diminish, will he have the tenacity to keep grinding on finer points of the game?

I wouldnt trade the world for him. That's my gut feeling. 2 1st picks and more, plus the contract, seem like a trap now.

If he becomes a Free Agent, then the conversation changes
