Interesting piece of information re: Bye Week

Too small a sample, especially when that sample includes StL, Miami, (both winless and witless) Dallas, Wash, clev and Balt. Those teams' combined record is 11-19.

Good observation, though the Ravens ain't bad...and definite style points for "winless and witless"...I'm gonna use that sometime.

This, on the other hand, sort of takes away from the importance of the bye week.

Not at all. While it does limit practice, it does give players an oppertunity to heal. Plus the coaches are using those four days to study game film, game plan, etc.

So instead of players getting one day to rest and the coaches one day prep followed by 5 days to practice and do walk thrus, travel etc, you have 4 days to plan and rest followed by 9 days to practice and do walk thrus etc.

2 things......

1) BB has traditionally given 4 straight days off in the bye week.

2) Check BB's record of the bye week.

Nuff said.

Exactly.

Also we play the Steelers.... a team we own and a team thats not even all that great this year. If the season ended today, they'd only be in the hunt.. not even holding a playoff spot....

You give Belichick two weeks to prepare, practice and execute a game plan and he will practically change the DNA of the opposing QB.

Do you actually think the Cowboys would have been as close to the Pats this week if they didn't have two weeks to prepare? Would the BRowns have defeated the Pats last year in CLE if they didn't have two weks to scheme a game plan?

Well, as far as the Redskins are concerned, they been 0-4 after the bye for the last 4 years. So it's business as usual for them.

I thought a big point of the Bye for the players was to get some rest and a break from an intense, beginning in pre season and training camp, six month routine. I have zero problem with players hitting the beach or the links for a few days of R&R with friends, girlfriends, whatever...

Agreed. Especially guys like Brady, Welker etc. who are so intense they need to walk away for just a bit to re-charge. I worked in High Tech and although some CEOs and Board members regarded it as a capital offense to take your 2 weeks a year vacation, I always pushed my guys to take at least one week a year, even though all projects are perpetually behind schedule. Productivity tails off when you press all the time. There's a post season hopefully in our future.

What is the record? I can only recall 1 loss after a bye in the BB era, GB in 2002. So I'm guessing something like 10-1?
