Patriots Injury News Jared Wilson confirmed high ankle sprain

Brock Bowers had one his senior year and ended up having a tightrope procedure which accelerates healing often. Not sure they would do that for a lineman

If they know going into week 17 they will have a bye, they should still play starters. Two weeks off is too much. Leads to rust in the first playoff game.

As we saw the injuries piling up yesterday I was thinking that perhaps the 'mini-bye' after TNF was too much time off...

I wasn't serious, i'll have to go back and change the angry emoji I changed it to confused, which probably won't help. But will see
Until recently I’ve been confused about what is the difference between the two kinds of ankle sprains. It’s just started to make sense to me. So your confused emoji may just confuse me. Maybe. I’m not sure…

If anybody is even slightly dinged they should get time off to heal. They can knock the rust off in practice. Most of it is mental and Vrabel will take care of that. They’ll be hungry enough it won’t be a problem. Physical condition is what will matter. Resting them will be the best thing for that.

High ankle sprains aren't great news. Contrary to Rappaport, the average recovery time is 42-68 days. We JUST had this discussion about Milt Williams.
Yeah, High Ankle Sprains suck. You might not feel good doing anything athletic on that foot for a few months.

I am also pretty comfortable with Brown getting snaps.
I assume that will also bump up Wallace to active while Wilson is out

My memory is fading but a low or regular ankle sprain concerns drum roll... the ligaments in the ankle. A high ankle sprain concerns the tibia and fibula below the knee. Ligaments connect bone to bone

Wouldn't mind seeing Wallace get some play if it helps our Anemic Running Game.

I’d agree.

However, it’s getting reported as a potentially shorter timeline for whatever reason. Probably from the team themselves. It may just be a shorter timeline

A sprain is basically a tear correct?

The important thing is, so far, all these players will be back for the playoffs at worst.

This is why you bank wins by any means necessary.

Are you really suggesting that the time off was the CAUSE of the injuries????

IMO not too much time off explicitly .... I think too little time to recuperate after the game prior to Thur and then too long afterwards. The two different time-cycles back-to-back I think was more the problem; IF IT WAS a problem. Plus a couple other factors to consider:

B. that field has a bad rep
(a bunch of other injuries to other teams happened there; somebody listed them in another thread- Campbell thread?). could their feet be holding in turf more than usual?

C. Could it possibly be that some guys came into the game thinking this was a pushover/easy win? if they then weren't prepared for the normal hits / carried themselves differently ... made themselves more likely to receive punishment than deliver it.

I didnt see Cincy being dirty (not like Tampa; they looked to be with evil intent down there); so I think a bunch of these (particularly the Campbell one) are BL just 'bad luck' / at wrong place-wrong time.
