Inside the most dysfunctional Pats season under BB

I think the vast majority of the long term fans on here are thankful to Brady, Belichick, Kraft, and a long list of other players and staff for the dynasty, but it is a Pats forum to discuss what is going on with the team, and sitting here raising our glasses to the dynasty without having an opinion on what is going on currently doesn't really seem what the forum is for.
Point is, it's been one year after a 20 year run. Talk all you want, but you all look like ungrateful a holes for expecting more. Of course, don't think it's going unnoticed that it's mostly the Dolphin/Raider/Jet fans pushing the Kill Bill narrative. Like I said, bashing BB is akin to kicking Red out of town because he didn't win in 1978. Go find another team and save us the self loathing guilt trip.

Hasn’t just been one year, though.

The problem I see is that we continue to ignore that 2 of the last 3 seasons had McDaniels as OC. In all 3 seasons the coaching was atrocious

The 2021 Patriots offense ranked sixth overall, far from "atrocious." The prior season, 2020, was the roster re-set with Cam Newton at QB. Note that the 2019 Pats offense ranked seventh overall.

It's been 4 years since we won a postseason and 2 losing seasons and this year was supposed to be the leap and we just screwed ourselves because of coaching . That has never happened before with Bill. Hence the rant. Will this ineptitude continue or will the new changes usher in positive results . It's going to be an exciting off-season and 2023 .

But because bill won us 6 rings we cannot be wallowing in as a bottom feeder for 10 years . This is a make or break year for the team as well as Bill .

The screen name and the posts…lol…”No Excuses” but come on you guys, it’s Bill. He could go 0-1000 and it’s fine because look at what he did in the past. And he’s trying his best. No excuses though.

It’s no excuses for number 5. It’s lots of excuses for number 6+.

First off, I never selected this username. Don't feel a need to change it either. Secondly, hell yes, BB gets a pass. And he will for eternity in my eyes. All I need for him to do is correct it, and he's well on the way to doing so. Belittling others for feeling the same way makes your type look like they are against the team as a whole. Go find another team if you're that upset with the coach, this player or that waterboy. We ****ing get it. BB ****ed up one years worth of your fanhood. Boohoo. Go root for another team. Don't tell me it's about "we want what's best for the team". If that's true, support him rather than tear him down,. Pray that he's learned and can move on. Christ, if you want to bury him as a fan, stop going to the games and pretending to be a Patriots fan.

Louder for the people in back.

I thought Boston sports fans were made of tougher stuff than this crap. The Red Sox are a joke and so is baseball but Red Sox fans will boo the hell out of an owner and literally everything he does despite leading the team to FOUR championships in 15 years. And GOOD! It's a what have you done for me lately business.

If you want to see BB booed the badly you always could actually attend a game and do it yourself.

The very fact that we have not resigned any of our first rounders since McCourty tells me we have been really missing the mark and bardy and scar making up for the whiffs. Now that they are not there it's plain vanilla to see.
Bad player management has gone on for years, but covered up by Brady and the rest of the core players. The national media has asked many times why the Pats constantly have no cap when they hardly have any big contracts? Because of bad drafts, Bill has flooded the roster with overpriced veteran mid tier contracts which prevented Bill from actually signing hits in the draft, FA/trades like Deon Branch, David Givens, Richard Seymour, Chandler Jones, Akiem Hicks, extending Gilmore or just trading him during 2020, JC Jackson and Joe Thuney. I would've added Trey Flowers to the mix, but he was not worthy of that massive contract he got from Patricia who should've been fired before signing him. Then you have Bill in the early years letting Ty Law go on the verge of a 3 peat and no plan at LB after Brushci suffered a stroke and other LB's leaving such as Ted Johnson and Roman Phiffer.

Mrs Belichick welcome to the board. This is the NFL (Not for long league). Your focused intense loyalty is noted. Because of Bill's past successes he has earned the right to acquire generational wealth, a first ballot hall of fame ticket, unwavering devotion of fans like you, unrestricted power to make all key decisions for the team, hire as many family members as he wants to join the organization and conduct media relations in his own warm, transparent and genuine style.
However, he does not own the team and does not have the right to continue on in perpetuity without any accountability.
Even Tom Landry, Don Shula and Vince Lombardi eventually wore out their welcome.

Part of the job as head coach and GM of an NFL franchise is to be held accountable. There is nothing wrong or disloyal about hardcore Pats fans wanting to put the team first even ahead of the owner or future hall of fame head coach if they believe the ship has sailed way off course.
Closing your eyes and watching the ship sail off course and just hoping that maybe the captain will make the appropriate course corrections is reasonable up to a point. At some time, if the ship runs aground, it's quite reasonable to consider bringing in a new captain. Last year he disobeyed his own mantra...he did NOT do his job.

The ship has been heading for shallow water for 3 years, if it scrapes bottom next year without a course correction....start interviewing new captains.

I ain't made of money why do you think I'm so bitter.

I know why you're bitter and it's not from lacking money to boo BB in the flesh.

I mean I used to have a connection with a mid-level Gillette Stadium employee in the family so I got to go to tons of the swanky parties the Patriots held for things like Hall of Fame Inductions and what not so I've met Bill among tons of other Pats players/coaches and like I'm not bragging like it was some special thing I talked to him for like 45 seconds in generic platitudes of being a big fan, looking forward to the season, etc etc etc but yeah of course I'm not going to boo some dude to his face.

That's what the internet is for.

By the way there are some alum at these things who would chat freely with guests so that was cool. Deion Branch was one. Funny story some idiot had him sign a Super Bowl 36 program which made Deion really confused and he told him outright "dude I wasn't on the team for that game, I was also rooting for the Rams." And no Brady isn't one, he might be there technically but people like me and you ain't talking to him over wherever he is in the Putnam lounge with the family/some other ex-players, and the get back people. You'll get shot even getting near him.

He's earned the right to right the ship after a bad year, last year was not a bad year, he made the playoffs with a rookie QB, year before was a freaked up covid year, count it if you want but last year looked like he was on the right track. If after 20 years of success you don't feel the need to let him figure it out, well I don't know what to say.
