Re: Pats to host LB Adam Seward tomorrow

I didn't say they were bed at getting free agent LBs. Thanks for twisting the words though. Beisel is almost a category now, making it evident that Belioli aren't perfect. Brown was also a failure. Wesly Mallard, Ryan Phillips and Ratcliff Thomas would fit into that category as well.

If you were not implying that they were bad at it and just noting that they are not perfect than what was the point of the statement. Obviously Bill is not perfect if he was we would have won the.... well I don't want to finish this sentance but you can imagine where I was going.

With the talent that he has found thru Free agency I think it more than makes up for a few bad choices in Beisel or Mallard or some of the others you mentioned and it certainly should not stop him from trying to find another guy who could contribute here.

Re: Pats to host LB Adam Seward tomorrow

I haven't heard any of his interviews; why would signing a RFA be more beneficial for the signing club than signing a UFA?

Signing a high profile UFA might cancel out a high profile UFA that

you lost and cost a compensatory pick. I doubt the Pats think this

way when they sign UFAs.

Most of those guys were signed at the minimum to compete for spots, an/or play sts.
You really cannot be saying that bringing in Ratcliff Thomas to compete for a job is a consideration in the evaluation of how BB and Pioli assess FA LBs, can you?

On multiple occasions Jonathan Kraft has said it is taken into account.

Ditto............

How did Adam Seward get so popular? Over 100 responses to this thread. Is this guy the real deal or something?

Seems to be mostly people waving their wands in the air and arguing about free agency and BB/Pioli's ability to judge talent.

I think they stopped talking about Seward on page 2.

He played like a man possessed against us.

Re: Pats to host LB Adam Seward tomorrow

I don't see how anyone could be opposed to this guy. He's got more tools than Monty Beisel. He was heavily scouted by us. Seems to fit the 3-4 mold rather than the 4-3 mold (like most of Carolina's young defensive players; Stanley McClover anyone?). He's young and coachable. Let's give him a try. He'll probably have more success than a 5th round pick.

Praise indeed. Sensible words.

Re: Pats to host LB Adam Seward tomorrow

Sewards certainly is popular. That thread in the Panthers messageboard has grown as much as this one:

http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/...am-seward.html

The growing consensus from them is they want to match. Seems he is a real ST standout, which really shined in CAR bc the rest of their ST unit sucks.

Sounds like they really don't want a repeat of what happened when they lost Draft last year.

Of course I can.

Re: Pats to host LB Adam Seward tomorrow

Thats an extra 6 picks that they get to screw up.

Should we purposely pick bad players on day two for the Jets?

I mean jerks like the free agents they chose this year.

Amazing, ain't it?

Amazing, ain't it?

I don't recall tossing in the defensive end conversion projects, like Bailey, when it came to my examples. In other words, I used a convenient LB designation put upon the players by NFL.com, which is why I have no compunction about actually pointing to those players. However, if you'd like to drop Thomas from the list and add Bailey, you go for it. That would make a net change of..... zero. Furthermore, the notion of belittling Thomas's potential role when Seward hasn't been a starter to this point in his career is a bit stupid in the first place.

I e-mailed Mike Reiss. "Any further word on Adam Seward".

Mike replied: "I hear he had a good visit. Now, we wait for
the offer, James. I think they'll make him one".
