They desperately need corners. Why not go after the best?
This isn't just about screwing over the Patriots. Besides QB, their biggest hole could have been the CB spots last season.
The opportunity to pick up a Pro Bowler without giving up any assets other than money while also weakening a division rival makes a lot of sense, even if it will be expensive.
Worst-case scenario, you drive the price up and reduce the amount your division rival can spend elsewhere. Best-case scenario, you get the best corner in the game at a position you desperately need to fill.
