If you could add any player in the NFL to the Pats...

I completely agree

patrick willis is the best defensive player in the nfl-period. ed reed is next. it looks like most posters were going with filling the Pats' biggest need-olb, not necessarily the best player. but how does bb draft? not by need. he takes bpa-unless its a position thats absolutely locked down.( like qb-so i wouldnt take peyton manning). ware is a good, not great, olb imho. but willis is a bigger difference-maker. mayo/willis could end up being the best inside lb combo in nfl history--incredible sideline to sideline speed, runstuffers, can cover anybody, etc. after willis, i want either bob sanders,polamalu-matched up with bw and chung off the bench-yikes! or ed reed with chung and bw off the bench-id take any of those before i took ware.id probably even take a dominant lt over ware. ware is good-but hes overrated-hes not great. wow, cant believe i wasted all those words on something hypothetical.

Ware is better then Willis, we already stop the run, Ill take the pressure of the edge, and BB doesnt only draft best player available, he does what ever he believes make's the team better, and Ware would make the Pat's the best D in the league.

Just as a complete left-field move, I'll go with Shane Lechler. Be nice to finally have some consistency at P.

Connor Barwin.

Easily DeMarcus Ware. Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, and Patrick Willis get honorable mentions.

Andre Johnson.

Any single defensive stud could make the defense anywhere in between good and great, but adding possibly the best WR to go with this offense and it would make them unstoppable, regardless of how good the defense is.

Alex smith!!!

I'm not shocked at the players people are picking, but I would go a different direction. Calvin Johnson is the player to get.

I pretty much just assumed that you'd say Clady. Surprises all around!

No, Clady is a good player, but Johnson has the tools to be far and away the best receiver in the game. I'd love to see him with a couple years alongside of Moss and then watch him take over the reins.

It's not even close, it's DeMarcus Ware. Every year, his sacks have gone up. He's arguably the best player at making guys around him better. I swear there were games where teams would put four guys on Ware because he's so difficult to block. When a NT records 8 sacks, you know the opposition is sliding too much protection over to one guy. That is how good DWare is.

Ed Reed or DeMarcus Ware, We Need a playmaker on defense.
Larry Fitzgerald...Moss Fitzy Welker Galloway...oh my

I'm surprised to see Joe Thomas on here so much. He was pretty bad last year.

As for who I'd take, Reed, AP and Ware would all be great choices.

If by bad you mean first string all pro then I agree with you

Surprised no one has said Devin Hester. Considering our offense is among the greatest ever (or at least was not long ago), and we have always had a strong defense under BB, could you imagine if we also had the best special teams in the league? Hester single handedly makes your special teams feared and dangerous.

My choices:

1. Devin Hester
2. Ed Reed
3. Adrian Peterson
4. Demarcus Ware
5. Patrick Willis (could you imagine Willis and Mayo?)

Can you imagine what Bill would do with a field position changer like Hester? I think Scifres would be the same sort of advantage.

well, for punters... he is 1 or 2.

the Scifres guy is also very good.

I never really thought about punters.

Defense either:

Patrick Willis
DeMarcus Ware
Ed Reed

Offense:

Adrian Peterson

... if salary were no factor, who would it be? DeMarcus Ware, Ed Reed, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald are just a few names that popped into my mind.

Great question by relatively new member!

On offense I'd have to go with the best Left Tackle in the game. Unfortuantely that's not Matt Light. One can debate who that player is - but I just want to give Brady all the protection he needs.

There might be flashier offensive players out there but when if a Left Tackle can give Brady enough protection, Brady would even make Reche Caldwell look good.

For defense, it's tough not to say Demarcus Ware.

I go defense... Without considering the defensive alignment the Patriots play, I'll say Patrick Willis, DeMeco Ryans, James Harrison, Lance Briggs, Antoine Winfield, Adrian Wilson or Antonio Cromartie to name a few.
