Outside of QB scrambles and a WR reverse the Browns rushed for 81 yds on 22 atts = 3.7 ypc.

With 2 UDFA DT's and missingf your best LB and defensive leader i'd say thats an okay return.

No. They rushed 22 for 47 outside of QB scrambles and reverse. The longest run was 7 yards. The 'traditional' run D was very good, although I'd say the reverse should be part of that so its 23-81 which is still very good.

That hit was not clean IMO Ken. If it was clean it would of been higher. Not to wussify football anymore than it needs to be, but if they have a few more of these types of hits to star caliber players they are going to need to implement a strike zone. Shoulders to thighs.

Geez, I've never been more bummed after a win.

Ahem... September 7, 2008 just called. :bricks:

This was a great win... and keep in mind that when Gronk went down... the Pats had zero points. Zero. Just sayin'... we're not dead yet.

This year has been tough - a real rollercoaster - the thing I have learned - the hard way in 2007 and 2011 - is that it really does become something of a crap shoot in the post-season.

Recent SB winners Ravens, Steelers, Colts and Giants spent large parts of the season sucking it up - giving their fanbase very little faith they would even make the playoffs let alone win the SB.

These teams got hot, made some plays, got some breaks and they won it all.

Lets make the playoffs and see how the chips fall.

I agree with your optimism and that the chapter of the season obviously has yet to be written. Where we disagree is the comparison to any of the teams that you mentioned. All of those teams had some serious ability to turn it on with a defense (aside from maybe the 2006 IND team who did it on offense, and the fact that we handed them their hardest victory) that we obviously don't have. Both sides of the ball are now limited in some way, even if our offense is still quite capable.

I respect your thoughts, but I feel that the odds of us doing anything increase in an extreme way if we can secure the first round bye, have 2 weeks to prepare for our one home game, THEN let the chips fall where they may in the AFCCG.

I think we're in agreement to a certain degree, but differ as to how we see it possible. If there are still people out there who don't feel the #2 seed is of the utmost importance, I'm not sure what to say. I'm not seeing many reasonable comparisons to any of these teams who made it as a wildcard, although obviously you seem to feel differently.

Agreed. Without the #2 seed, the only way the Pats see the AFCC is if they all buy tickets.
