He...he... don't forget Chad Wide-Left.Team Bill's last stand. "Mac is the only bad player out of 53".
This Black Monday after the season should be very intriguing Suicide watch for the IBBWT crowd. It was good while it lasted.Team Bill's last stand. "Mac is the only bad player out of 53".
Even if you and Rappaport are correct, the main problem Bill and the Pats have had since Tom's departure is beating teams who have a .500 record and above which is a whopping 10-27. Mediocre QB play won't get it done if you're looking to win a playoff game and be competitive for a Super Bowl which is the ultimate goal. There are at least 4 games, unquestionably that were lost and would have been wins with a mediocre QB. That’s 7-7 at worst. Not even counting the games we were out of it before the first quarter because of qb turnovers.
I have no problem playing what if on a 3-11 season. It a moot point. If you replace Mac with Fictional League Average Guy, teams play the Pats differently. There's different tape out there of FLAG so there are different gameplans. Maybe Gonzo doesnt get hurt because the opposing team wasn't in that down or distance on that play. Maybe the Oline quickly returned to health. Maybe Owenu and Andrews go down for the season in the second game? Maybe the Buffalo game is a loss. Maybe a couple of blowout are marginally closer. Maybe not. Maybe they're wins. You don't know.
That's why its futile to play the "what-if" game.
Only mediocre QB play and they get 9-10 wins? No.
Defense is good enough to hang around, but not take over games. No defense is. You need an offense to score against teams like Dallas, Miami who bullied the Pats. Struggling Buffalo got 25 on them and needed a Mac led game winning drive to win. A bad KC offense got 27 with an assist from that Zappe INT. The Saints put up 27 on them. A QB needs more than what the Pats have on offense.
49ers are the so called best D in the NFL and they just allowed 29 to a terrible Cards team.
It’s not, it’s on the other less than mediocre QB that has to play because 10 stinks. The Pats are 1-2 since Mac has been benched. And the only win is against a Steelers team that is imploding on itself. They couldn't score a single point against the Chargers who have the worst defense in the league. How is that on Mac Jones?
That’s what a rebuild looks like with an average QB.Average QB would have us where we have been the last two years. Right around .500 and just out of range to draft a guy who can actually help turn things around. As painful as this has been we're better off this way than treading water year after year and patching things together with middling quarterbacks.
Are you sure about that. I know there were games that we could have won with better receivers. How about the Redskins game where Reagor dropped what should have been a perfect TD pass that would have won the game.
You had earlier in the season where the o-line couldn't block anyone where even an average QB would have been rattled and sacked a lot. The Pats couldn't even put together a decent starting line up until they moved Owenu to RT midseason. The second one of the starters went down, the entire line falls apart including this past Sunday.
To put it all on the QB is silly. They have no #1 WR. They don't really have five quality starting o-linemen. They no depth on the o-line. Their receivers are mostly cast offs by other teams. I mean the Chiefs rather have Kadarius Toney than Juju Smith-Schuster.
If I was starting an offense from scratch, the only Patriots players I would consider to build that offense with are Stevenson, Zeke, Andrews, Owenu, Henry, Douglas, and Bourne. I wouldn't touch anyone else and those other players could easily be replaced with enough cap space which the Pats have. And Douglas is on my list more for potential than consistent production. And Bourne is on my list from past product than production this year. And there isn't a guy on this list that I would consider top 5 at their position and only a few you could even make the argument they are top 10 at their position. Maybe Henry. But that is also because there aren't a lot of top TEs out there. Stevenson when is on, yes. Andrews probably.
That’s what happened when you are rebuilding.Even if you and Rappaport are correct, the main problem Bill and the Pats have had since Tom's departure is beating teams who have a .500 record and above which is a whopping 10-27. Mediocre QB play won't get it done if you're looking to win a playoff game and be competitive for a Super Bowl which is the ultimate goal.
Your defending a qb who can’t put up 14 points a week is funny.
You’re a smart guy. I’ve seen it. I read his post as a disagreement that one player is the problem and instead we have a host of issues to contend with. How tf did you get that he was defending Mac out of all that?Your defending a qb who can’t put up 14 points a week is funny.
You wrote an epically long list of excusesDid you see me say that Mac wasn't part of the problem. I just watched the games and see this offense is devoid of talent and the problems go way beyond the awful play of the QB.

The talent on the offense is being hamstring by the QB.
Think Hunter Henry looks different with a QB who has a basic concept of how to execute the plays?
You are crying that a dropped pass is the biggest issue for a qb who can barely put up an offensive TD per game.
No he didn’t. He responded with actual things that happened. I’ve watched every single game, I don’t need to watch the film. There’s clearly more than one problem with this offense. Play in and play out someone blows an assignment, commits a drive killing penalty etc. None of that matters though. I’m just trying to point out that Rob was engaging you in a good faith discussion and you came back with a childish response. It’s crap like that which is destroying this board. No discussion. Person x says blank, person y says blank, person x can’t believe someone disagreed with them and comes back with a personal insult or a mind numbing gotcha. It’s old man.He is responding to abysmal play with excuses.
Watch the film, every player on the offense us diminished by this qb.
It's due time to start blaming BOB.The Pats are 1-2 since Mac has been benched. And the only win is against a Steelers team that is imploding on itself. They couldn't score a single point against the Chargers who have the worst defense in the league. How is that on Mac Jones?
