I suppose there's no way to rest Brady at the start of 2017 as well?

It's a dangerous game to fight statistics. It can end well but usually it doesn't. The Patriots are better at realizing that - at using past information to guide future decisions than any team in history.

The statistics show that people change physically once they get near 40. They tend to have less stamina, to bounce back from injury slower, to need more rest, and a lot of other things.

In other sports, older players have been given accommodations in deference to this. Wasn't there some hall-of-fame pitcher who only played home games because he was so old? I forget the details, about 8 years or so ago. And he did very well.

I suspect it would maximize the probability of a title if it were possible to sit Brady for the first 4-6 games. Especially if we're paying Garoppolo.

Can't throw away homefield. If we get homefield it's pretty unlikely we will be stopped. AFC was trash last year but it may be better this year (though it'd be surprising if it was).

I don't understand the people that think we should be resting Brady regularly.

He's the ****ing GOAT. Play him every chance you can get. Don't make excuses to bench him. Run him out there as often as possible. Let him develop the necessary chemistry with Cooks and Allen and whoever else. Let him work with all the kids on the OL to ensure they understand what they need to be doing.

You want to maximize the probability of a title? It isn't by sitting Brady for 1/4 of the season. It's by having him win as many games as possible to secure home-field advantage.

Are you Max Kellerman? Sitting the greatest QB of all time, who just came back 25 points in a Super Bowl?!?...dumbest idea ever.

This actually sounds like something they may try at some point.... I dont want that but wouldnt be shocked if it happened in a few years.

A pitcher in a five man rotation is a bit different than a starting QB.

In the NFL every game counts so you put the best guy out there each game. He'll get his rest during the bye weeks and or the last week of the season.

There's no question it would benefit Brady to shorten his season, so it's far from dumb.

The issue is that football, and QBs, don't work they way. So unless he's hurt (or suspended ) he's playing.

Would prefer they game managed more and went 60/40 towards a running game than sit Brady.

Belichick: "On paper we're the better team the first few games so we'll just sit Brady and who cares if we possibly lose a few we might have won."

ya im sure the fans would be ok with brady resting first month of season

Have Jimmy do the 1st qtr of every game. That reduces Brady wear and tear by 4 games (just kidding but Rex would do it)

they would if we won the games. If we tried that and lost games fans would revolt and rightly so in a year when we have a outside chance at perfection

Not quite sure why you disagree Q mechanic, are you saying you would sit him
