I'm sorry, to me a fluke is a bad officiating call, a fluke is the wind picking up momentum during a FG attempt just to swat the ball wide-right..... anything that is left to the coaches and players power is not a fluke - it's called bad coaching/playing. To me a fluke is something you have no control over.

Perhaps more accurate is to call this game an outlier, then.

There is an old Jewish saying:

"The difference between a wise man and a clever man is that a clever man can get himself out of a situation a wise man never would have gotten into in the first place."

This last game, the Pats looked clever.

I feel like this is a game where the Pats did something that they really never do: I think they overlooked their opponent. Philly looked so horrible the last two weeks that Bill and crew may not have really analyzed them and scouted them as hard as they should have, and may not have practiced as hard and focused as much as they normally would after such a screw job game the week prior. They might've thought "ugh, that last one sucked, but at least it's just the Eagles. We've got this."

I don't know if that's the case, but it seems like a possible explanation. They just weren't prepared, and their execution was seriously lacking. They basically scrapped things and just went off talent and heart by the end, and it almost worked, but it wasn't enough to overcome the severe lack of execution. Could be a valuable lesson learned and something they won't repeat.
