It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Remember, the love affair you indicate is the love affair of the bettors. The odds do NOT reflect what the oddsmakers themselves may or may not think about the teams (if they even give any thought to the matter). The oddsmakers job is to post odds that will cause as close to an equal amount of payoff (ie a balanced book) as they can no matter who wins. So what the odds DO reflect is a shrewd guess as to what the betting public will BET on given those odds. So the 'love affair' you mention is with the deluded bettors of which there seem to be an inordinate number for whom hope is eternal that their darling Colts will actually 'do it' this year.GayBrady said:I don't understand this love affair with the Colts
Odds to win Superbowl next year.
Colts 9-2
Seahawks 6-1
Patriots 6-1
etc.

Ice Cold Bruschi said:My rationelle for how I think we got worse is simply this, we lost our best reciever and replaced him with a rookie. We lost our best pass rusher and replaced him with [blank]. And we lost the best kicker in the game and replaced him with a rookie. And some key players on D- Bruschi, Rodney, and Vrabel- got older and added to their injury history. And as for strengthening the o-line, Koppen's future is unclear and there are concerns about Light.

McGinest wasn't our best pass rusher.
Vinatieri isn't the best kicker in the league. Most clutch, yes, but best overall? Not with that leg he isn't.
Your argument that we lost the best pass rusher on the team conflicts your argument about Tedy, Rodney and Vrabel getting older. Everyone on the team got older. Tedy is going to be healthy again. Rodney should be back. Vrabel may well play his preferred position at OLB.
Not sure I see such major questions about Light beyond who plays LT.
Koppen's future is in doubt for 2007. Most expect him around for 2006.
Now calculate adding the draft choices, FAs and the returning injured players...and tell me again how we are worse...?
JoeSixPat said:Whether we are better of worse remains to be seen - we've certainly lost some good contributors, gained a few interesting rookies, and have a few players coming back from injury as well.
The bottom line is that with the possible exception of choosing to franchise AV, keeping all those players was NOT an option, making debate over the issue of whether their absence is good or bad irrelevant.
OH MY GAHD, we lost MR. PEY ME A TON VINATAERI, Old Willie and Davey Givens.Ice Cold Bruschi said:I don't understand their love affair with us, of course I'm rooting for the pats, but we got worse in the offseason but we're tied in second for best odds with Seattle.
My understanding is that AV was very unhappy aobut being franchised and the Patriots said they wouldn'tdo it twice, but would negotiate a long term deal or let him go.JoeSixPat said:The bottom line is that with the possible exception of choosing to franchise AV, keeping all those players was NOT an option, making debate over the issue of whether their absence is good or bad irrelevant.

Miguel said:That ignores the possibility that the Pats could have extended those players in 2005. Example - if the Pats made Adam their best offer in 2005 Adam may be a Patriot today.
Miguel said:The Colts lost 2 players (Tripplett and Thornton) and that's a dismantling of their defense??

Now on the positive side we have alot of guys who gained alot of experience next year which SHOULD only make them better, but that is never a garauntee.
And I do think its bull**** that the Colts are on top, I also think its bull**** that the Eagles are that high as well.
actually we did franchise him twice...but not thrice..and he returned the favor with a big ol stab to our backspacecrime said:My understanding is that AV was very unhappy aobut being franchised and the Patriots said they wouldn'tdo it twice, but would negotiate a long term deal or let him go.
You said what we are all thinking...thanksRichter said:Maybe it's because their so-called championship is as fraudulent as their coach.
