Who are the other Free Agent CBs who will be available?
As much as I have an issue with Asante and his tackling ability, I have to give credit where credit is due. Teams haven't been throwing at him nearly as much as they did last year at the end of the season.
Next year could be a big re-building year for the defense with status of Bruschi, Seau, and Harrison also up in the air.
yeah, so what. everyone does it, including BB. they are not going do the deal on the field, the most he will say is "good game, ya know i wouldn't mind seeing you in a jets uniform next year"
Tampering aside, I'm not sure how many FA's the JETS can attract without overpaying substantially when you factor in that the HC and GM may be gone midway through next season. Remember, Ty Law wanted to play for Herm so badly he had to follow him to KC less than a year after signing on with the JETS. That's not something the kind of contract Asante longs for would allow for. Plus the last time they added a Patriots ballhawk CB to their roster, he got 10 picks and they made a coaching change and parted company with him anyway after the season. That's because the JETS have a lot more holes to worry about than poaching Patriot DB's will ever patch.

He won't say it because he needs competition to drive his market interest, but hopefully after what he sees on Sunday Asante will be smiling while thinking ugh, I'd rather throw up in my mouth than wallow through your last season in NY with you, buddy.
If Asante is smart he will come to terms here or get as far away from the AFCE as he can. And if he's not smart enough to figure that out, then his value here a moot point.
