Apparently the Texans are not interested in Romo (no surprise as he stinks).

Would we do Jimmy G for Hopkins

The Pats can get more than Hopkins in a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. If the Browns are willing to trade the #12 pick (and rumors are they are getting ready to offer several more picks), Houston would have to do better.

Not even close. No way. He's worth more to us than Hopkins. And high picks need to be at least part of the deal.

Where'd you hear the Texans aren't interested in Romo?

Hypothetical, 24 year old Hopkins plays for the Patriots. Only has a 7 mil cap hit right now. Averaging over his first 4 years in the league; 80 rec, 1122 yards PER YEAR.

What would this forum be saying about his worth in trade for a QB with only about 6 Qtrs of NFL playing time?

The Texans are not interested in TRADING for Romo. They are still, however, very interested in signing Romo after he is released.
Yup and that makes too much sense. JJ isn't getting squat from anyone for Romo. He has no play because everyone knows he's eventually going to have to cut him.

We (Patsfans.com posters) don't know how "we" (the Patriots) actually value JAG.

One big signing, some good trade bait on our roster and suddenly everyone goes silly with their trade ideas.

Ok, but what if "we" traded Cyrus Jones and Mike Williams for the #1 overall pick? That would be a fair trade, right?

Curious as to your definition of "stinks".

You realize that Tyrod Taylor just re-upped and Mike Glennon just got paid.

even if JG is the next Aaron Rodgers if you trade him to the browns they are still 3 years at lest away from being a team that can make it to the SB.

but if he is even half as good as he was in the 6QT's of play and no reason why he would not be in the same system Houston would now be the #1 team in the way of the pats getting to the super bowl. so for that reason alone i would not trade him

Which I am all on favor of. After Defamegate I will celebrate Jerry Jones getting nothing in trade for Romo.

Getting Romo's contract off the team is all the benefit the Cowboys should expect.

There were people who thought Mallet might bring the Texans' #33 pick back in the days.. don't bait them..

Maybe the Pats can trade Brissett to the Texans. They should be impressed as hell with him.

Again this obsession with WR's. Just how much better would the Pats be with Hopkins? Why are fans going nuts over this thing about getting a deep speed receiver, when Chris Hogan was 2nd or 3rd in the LEAGUE in yards per catch. Is having Hopkins going to improve on that.

The Pats need help to improve on the DL and LB, NOT WR. Besides, you'd have to pay him something well over 13MM/yr in 2018, Besides THAT, trading a QB for a WR is ludicrous by definition. A QB is the rarest of commodities, while quality WR's are just ahead of FB's and run stopping DT's.

The Pats have won 5 superbowls without having to pay a SINGLE true #1 WR, and even when we had Moss, he wasn't breaking the bank. So why haven't the #1 WR obsessed fans noticed this 17 year old trend. Great WR's in this offense don't make enough of a difference in winning games to justify the high cost of getting them and maintaining them.

Would it be nice to have Hopkins? ABSOLUTELY. But it is a luxury that you carefully have to weigh against the cost to get him. In this case its an asset that if you trade for picks could get you the edge rusher or LB you need that will make more of an impact on the team. It's not an exchange I would make.

A QB that has potential to be team starting QB for minimal 10 years.

Here's my 5 step plan:

1) Trade Butler and a 2nd to Houston for Hopkins

2) Trade Jimmy G to Cleveland for the #1 this year, a #2 this year and one #3 next year

3) Re-sign Hightower

4) Draft Garrett at #1

5) Draft a CB in the second

Lose Butler and Jimmy, gain Hopkins, the #1 overall and an extra #3. Defense is short Butler and Ryan from last year but Gilmore + draftee (or the Jones boys) replaces them. Garrett helps with pass rush questions.

Oh, and step 6... Repeat as champs!

A guy who plays is worth more than a guy who doesn't.
