I've never been a fan of his, albeit I also can't argue his record year after year, despite having some rough rosters. I will give him credit, because that part is certainly undeniable.
And I'd agree on McDaniels for the continuity with Drake Maye and hope that he's learned from two rough stints. I just don't know if he'd be able to surround himself with the same quality people ... the rest of this staff is really, really good.
I think Josh would have a solid staff working on the defense, too. And after a year, he's probably comfortable with a lot of the guys Vrabes gave him on offense. I think it'd be a good situation and better than bringing Tomlin in.I think McD would do fine here, in New England... Ownership knows him, and more importantly, would fully support him... hes worked in in Denver and LV and had the rug pulled out from under him when things started to get rocky... wouldn't happen here... with that support i dont think the surrounding cast would disappear overnight...
THIS would be super funny, and I am starting to wonder if he may have been held back by a poor front office/ownership. He was certainly not incredible, but you could do far worse. I'd take him before Tomlin or even some other current NFL HCs.Sean McDermott.
I'm sure Bills fans would absolutely love that. Lol
He absolutely was held back by poor ownership and the front office. McDermott handpicked Beane, but Beane has done a really poor job drafting and their big FA prize was a cooked Von Miller and later Joey Bosa. And the rumor was there was some disagreements between McDermott and Beane with regards to the lack of talent on the team. Then Beane got close with ownership and allegedly threw McDermott under the bus.THIS would be super funny, and I am starting to wonder if he may have been held back by a poor front office/ownership. No and No.Hypothetical question: I don't think Vrabel's job is in jeopardy, but if he was ousted, what do you think of Mike Tomlin? If offered, I don't see how Tomlin could turn it down. A playoff team with a young QB, etc.
They literally just ran the same plays they ran in the past, except with Hogan running GRONK's routes.I work with a Steelers fan and he was done with Tomlin long ago. Not a bad coach, just doesn't move the needle enough.
For me personally, I still think about us beating Pittsburgh in the 2016 AFC Championship. They had defensive players afterwards saying they were surprised that Chris Hogan was the focal point of the offense, and the up tempo we used caught them off guard.
Being surprised by the Brady era Pats running up tempo is unforgivable from a coaching aspect, and anyone who watched even a small amount of film on the Pats from that season and before would know the focal point of the offense in the next game could literally be anyone with a jersey number that makes them an eligible receiver.
So no thank you on Tomlin.
I have some deep thoughts about Tomlin becoming hc of the nep:
I think they love what Vrabel has done to the building and the last thing they'd do is bring an outsider to run things. It would be Josh McDaniels
The media is doing their best to find the smoking gun on this situation. So far, they just found another rendezvous. If it's somehow revealed Vrabel was having an affair and they had a son together, Bob will have no choice.Only reason Vrabel could get fired is if it becomes too big a distraction.
Makes me illThis place has become a gossip rag
You're right, of course. So far one can only speculate. But DNA testing is fast, accurate, and cheap. The truth can easily be found out.The media is doing their best to find the smoking gun on this situation. So far, they just found another rendezvous.
