I really liked this kid coming out..but lately..he just flat out sucks....

He's a UFA after this year. He's gone IMO, unless Belichick likes him more than I do I can't see him putting big money into him. Not to suggest he would cut him, not at all, but he'll get bigger $$$ elsewhere.

He'd cost about $6.5M to Franchise and I don't see that either.

I say, it's Tuesday after a big win. We're still only 1/4 into the season.

I'd rather lay off this kind of stuff.

He is my new "Gary Guyton" on the defense .. Doesn't bring a lick to the defense .. What does he do good?

Liability in coverage and a more in the box safety. Unless he takes a nice paycut, he's gone after this season. I, for one, wouldn't have a problem with it.

Then the question is, who replaces him? I see us using some early draft picks on Oline, a real stud in the middle. If Vollmer plays full from now on, I think we keep him, if he don't and we don't pay him, we will need another Right tackle, because, Cannon won't cut it.

The question is if we want two coverage safeties or one more strong safety like who covers the run more, more of Chung like player.

Our safeties don't look great right now and I would love if we got a stud back there but we will have other needs in the draft too.

Belichick often drafts a year ahead. Solder to replace Light. Ridley/Vereen to replace BJGE.

Wilson likely to replace Chung. It is what it is.

Is't Wilson more of a cover safety? If that is the case, we have booth Gregory and Wilson back there, booth out of the box cover safeties.

Chung has had some good moments, he helped with the re-invigoration of the defense at the end of last year (though in hindsight, maybe that was mostly Spikes). But his play this season so far has been uninspiring at best, and unfortunately, the body of work isn't there to justify him being around past this season.

I wish we could've landed Delmas. I was always on that bandwagon. I wonder where the team had him ranked.

I don't think Gregory is the solution, either. Further, the jury is still out on Wilson. There's always next year's draft and FA.

Patrick Chung the new target, as the safeties come under attack by the instant experts who need to be constantly on the attack.

Why is it that when the Pats complete a pass its because we have a great QB, elite receivers and exceptional schemes, yet when any team completes a pass against us, its because our secondary sucks and our guys should be replaced.

For certain angry sad, and spoiled Pats fans. In an age where 300 yd games are common, 60% completion rates are minimum requirements (except if you are Mark Sanchez ) and the rules are stacked against defenders: it has become clear that ANY completion made by an opponent HAS to be the result of gross malfeasance some Patriot defensive back. Can't be any other reason.....and "off with their heads"

You can say that again...i watched Delmas all that year we drafted Chung. When Chung is not late to the play he's getting injuried on a Tackle. I thought we had something but he's just been unimpressive for a guy going into his contract year. I hope we move on from him...Chung is too much of a tease.

If Chung leaves next year, it will be because someone overpaid him, and not because he sucks. What exactly was so bad about his game Sunday? He didn't make a play on Chandler for the touchdown, but we already knew he's not an Ed Reed type of cover safety. He's a more traditional, in the box, "small" linebacker type of safety. I think if Wilson can develop into a good cover guy (or we bring someone else in who is), Chung is just fine for what he is.

It reminds me of someone like Ninkovich. If he's your best defensive end, you're probably not doing well. But if he's your solid vet opposite a stud like we think Jones can be, he's a real good option. Same with Chung IMO. If we can get a good cover safety, be it Wilson, Gregory rebounding, or someone else coming in later, Chung is more than adequate as the other safety.

I tend to agree. He has his limitations but the guy plays hard,is a good character and brings some energy to the D.

Are you denying that Chung is better as an in-the-box safety than he is in coverage? It's not an instant analysis. His pass coverage has never been his strongest skill. His ability to come up and take on the run in the box always has. It has since the day he was drafted and it still is his strongest skill.
