How many of these will be on the team for Game 2? I sort of ignore the Game 1 roster since there are often many changes before Game 2.

Harry
Ferentz
Williams
Tavai
Langi
Bryant

If any, which one(s)

My one is Ferentz, although he could join the team later than Game 2.

I’m gonna say Ferentz, Williams, Tavai & Bryant.

Ferentz because of stabilizing factor in the OL depth.

Williams because he has a build quite different from everyone else.

Tavai & Bryant because Bill has to have a few of those bottom of the barrel guys that never amount to much of anything, but due to some big plays in practice reports, we all always hold out hope.

What does this mean? That the GOAT coach uses the roster to meet an obscure emotional need that corrupts the process of picking the best roster for winning?

I think Ferentz has the best chance of anyone on the list.

Harry and Williams have no shot, Tavi and Langi I do not want to see on the field for any defensive snaps and I am down Bryant as well after his late season pitiful performance and with the 3 Jones's, that may be enough hopefully to push him off the roster.

I voted 2. Ferentz is the most likely, due to being the only proven backup center on the roster (though a lot of people have high hopes for Russey here, and I hope that's the case).

The other one will be one of Langi and Tavai in a largely ST role.

But honestly, I could see a scenario where none of them make it. I just felt like 0 was a copout ;)

Unfortunately all these guys make the roster. If it were up to me, none of these stiffs would make it past TC.

Yeah I think Harry is going to make the roster for no good reason at all. This is his last year on his rookie deal.

It’s for the same reason Wilkerson made more of an impact in the passing game in one game last season than anything Harry did last year, but was bounced from the roster a week later again for Harry.

Maybe it’s an emotional need for him. I can’t really say. There’s always those few guys that make the team every year that everyone knows had no business of being there.

One - Harvey Langi makes the roster as a badass special teams/depth player.

N'Keal Harry gets cut early to give him a chance to catch on somewhere else. Can't see Williams nor Bryant making the team with all the new guys in the DB room. Had to look up LB Jahlani Tavai.

I think it's more a case of different valuations. Bottom of the roster guys can either be ST contributors, developmental prospects, depth guys, or some combination of the three. A think many fans would like to see those spots taken by the prospects or depth guys, where BB tilts his value more to the ST side of the scale. I don't think it makes it an emotional thing, it's just a difference in priority for, let's face it, a part of the roster that's made up of fringe NFL players on every team.

He actually was on the field defensively late in the year, I think against Miami or Buffalo, maybe both....he was totally lost and horrible, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think he was even worse than Elandon Roberts. If he ends up making the team and playing any snaps on defense at all, we are going to be in serious trouble!!!!

There's a long set of serious conversations by the coaching staff that evaluates every players' contribution, including dependability, versatility, special teams, and more. That's how "the bottom of the roster" gets filled out. No single coach, even Belichick, gets to choose players to keep based on an individual emotional need or whim.

I agree. I don’t think it’s an emotional thing for him. He definitely has those few guys that stick around for development/maybe even locker room/practice influence.

I don’t need it explained to me. I understand how it works. Thanks though! I am going to disagree with you that Belichick doesn’t have guys that he alone has decided to keep. There’s no way Bill hasn’t put his foot down a few times in the 20+ years he’s been there and made a call to keep a guy many others didn’t want. I’m sure it doesn’t happen a lot, but no way it doesn’t happen.

Here, here. I saw him miss a tackle in the Bucs game that went for 24 yds. He played in 13 games w/ very limited snaps, yet allowed every reception (5) thrown his way for 116 yds and a TD. Nvm about blowing blocks that resulted in a blocked punt.

If he's worse than Elandon, he's gotsa go.

Two very different statements. Forgive me for responding to one if you really meant the other.

Ferentz gets my vote. And I am still holding out on hope for JoeJuan....big corners don't grow on trees.

But I think it'll be Ferentz and one other guy for ST's.
